If you’re in the Southern Highlands, do yourself a (massive!) favour and get down to the Scottish Arms Hotel in Bowral. They are already known for their excellent food and we can certainly attest to that from our recent visit. We were a group of 17 old work friends from Sydney who visited last weekend and what a night to remember! The food was delicious, the ambience is beautifully relaxing, there’s lovely indoor and outdoor seating and we were fascinated by the “Scottishness” – shouldn’t be any surprise I guess with the name being a giveaway, but the décor is just fantastic and worth a visit on it’s own! But most of all, we’d like to give a huge shout out to the owners and staff….unbeknownst to us, Bowral was jumping on the weekend with various functions and whilst we’d booked maxi taxis to get home, sadly we were let down and stranded. It possibly wouldn’t have been as bad had there not been so many of us! Not really knowing what to do we asked the manager what he would suggest and before we knew it, he’d organised a staff member and one of the owners (who wasn’t even on duty!) to get us back to our accommodation. It was WAY over and above the call of duty and we were so very appreciative. Thank you again so much to Nathan, Robyn and Wang for your kindness. We would already have been coming back to visit you, but we also hope that Karma delivers the kindness and good fortune back to you...

The Scottish Arms Hotel in Bowral never fails to impress. Every visit is a pleasure, from the moment you walk through the door, you’re greeted with a warm welcome and genuine hospitality that immediately makes you feel at home.

The service is consistently exceptional. The staff are friendly, attentive and always go out of their way to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Whether dining with friends, family or as part of a larger group, you’re made to feel valued and well looked after.

The menu offers an excellent selection of meals, and every dish I’ve tried has been beautifully prepared, fresh, and absolutely delicious. There’s something to suit every taste and the portion sizes and presentation are always spot on.

The atmosphere at the Scottish Arms is relaxed with a wonderful mix of locals and visitors creating a friendly community feel. It’s the kind of place you look forward to returning to, whether for a casual mid-week meal, a weekend dinner or a special event.

I would highly recommend the Scottish Arms Hotel to anyone looking for great food, outstanding service and a truly welcoming experience in the...

Birthday lunch. Lovely and warm inside. Booked table ready. Plenty of staff to take to seating, get a drink at the bar and take order from whole table. Food was good and plenty. We took our own birthday cake. Even though there was plenty of parking, it was full by about 12. 30 pm. Probably due to rain. The only thing to be aware of was the restaurant was full and there was a lot of conversation going on. Hence, you could only really chat with someone sitting next to you. I don't really count this as a negative because it made a great atmosphere in the room. We had two toddlers and a baby with us. The toddlers were well fed and could wander around our table to get to other family members. The bill was able to...

What a great venue! Because it was out of town, I hadn't visited before but I'll definitely be visiting again. Access is easy for people of all mobility levels. The calm ambiance which contributes to easy conversation. Lots of parking. Great food. The food includes excellent vegan dishes. The chef reportedly was vegan until arriving in Australia and so provides wonderful dishes. Great outdoor area that is mostly under cover which was great today in the rain but would be wonderful in mid summer too. On my second visit I sat outside in the sunshine with my friend and dog. Staff supplied water for my puppy and then gave her many leftovers. Food was still fabulous. Highly recommended.

We're from Adelaide and visiting the area over Easter and decided to come here for dinner. As soon as we walked in we got a really great feel for the pub and really liked the displays of Scottish tartans, swords and family crests around the room. Our meals were delicious. I highly rate the beef and Guinness pot pie, my husband was very happy with his pork ribs and our daughter said her kids calamari was really good too. And the two male staff members were amazing! (The bartender and the floor manager). So friendly, helpful and attentive. If we lived in Bowral I would happily make this pub my "local". Thanks for a fantastic experience!

I was there at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon just last week. We were passing through Bowral and thought we would stop in for a late lunch and a quick taste of the Scottish beer. But alas, the bistro was closed so no food was available for another 2 hours, and we were informed that there was no more Tennent's (Scottish Beer) on tap. They literally removed the tap the day prior. Thats a real pity about the Tennents!! Otherwise this quaint pub has a comfy country atmosphere and is probably worth it for the menu alone. The meals listed looked great. The barman was nice and regretful about the beer being gone. End of an era!
