Went to the Belmont Tavern today for lunch with a party of 7. When my son who is 20 went to buy two drinks from the bar (non alcoholic) he was told he needed an adult to accompany him as his id could not be scanned. After I went in and confirmed he was with OTHER adults the manager approached our table and told us he believed he had used a fake id which is absolute crap obviously as he is 20! What I believe actually happened is their scanner doesn’t work properly so they assume it’s a fake id. The manager explained that other nsw ppl had used their IDs and had the same issue. Use your brain mate… clearly the issue is on your end. They kicked my son out in front of his girlfriend and his grandparents and embarrassed him deeply which is absolutey disgusting. Rules are rules he said. Go out to enjoy a nice lunch and made to feel like a criminal because the venues ID scanner is dodgy. Needless to say we will never be going back and I’ll be telling everyone of our experience.
We went to the Tingalpa Hotel 3 mins away. Excellent service, great food and staff with common sense. Highly recommended.
If I owned this pub I’d sack this manager in a second. Not only have you cost me over $500 for food and drinks but you’ve made your patrons feel unwelcome and accused them of something that was your fault. Absolutely disgraceful!
Shame on you...
Read moreVery disappointed with our meals on Tuesday night. This is the second time I've ordered a medium/well steak here and my plate ends up looking like I have a red wine jus with it. I even mentioned when ordering that I didn't want to see any blood. On the first occasion I ate around the sides of the steak only and left the rest on my plate. I mentioned to a staff member that it was supposed to be medium/well and was told they would let the chef know. This time, once again eating around the outside of the steak while trying not to look at my plate. One of my friends had to call a staff member because the chicken in her burger wasn't cooked so I showed her my steak and she was apologetic and said she would take my plate back to the kitchen to get my steak cooked properly but would bring my vegetables back. We all thought that was strange but anyway she bought them back on the same plate without the steak so I ate the vegetables leaving the blood from the steak on the plate. Then the employee came to our table with my leftover steak on a small plate that the chef had cooked to medium/well... so my half eaten steak was recooked and returned to me, needless to say, I didn't eat it. We certainly won't be coming back to be disappointed...
Read moreCould not believe how we were treated. We were expecting to have a family lunch and catch-up with our grandkids but when our grandson who is 20 years old went to the bar they asked for his ID which their scanner could not scan. When he and his girlfriend sat down at our table some inconsiderate junior manager approached us and said he would have to ask our grandson to leave because he believed he tried to get in with a fake ID. What a load of crap. Not interested in talking about it. Rules are rules he said and they had been having trouble with NSW people doing the same thing. Seriously where is the common sense. He has four adults willing to vouch for him and he won't go near the bar and they are only drinking soft drinks anyway. But no he had to embarrass our grandson so we could all see what a good manager he was. Needless to say we all left with him costing the tavern hundreds of dollars in drinks and food and we will never set foot in the place again. Well done Belmont Tavern how to get...
