I literally never leave reviews for people but when someone has unnecessary behaviour as we came across today & was noticed by 8 of us we felt a need to leave a review and definetly left a bad taste for our wonderful day trip. We came to bring friends from overseas & wanted to try somewhere different as we have been to the Hunter many times & know it well. We were 23 minutes late (we also left a message on the phone and tried to call from 11.30 onwards) and when we were arrived there were plenty of empty tables as well as the time we were there. We were more than polite to him considering, and also said we can go elsewhere as he kept going on about it. The owner repeatedly kept telling us how we were late, making us feel bad, rushing our order, we asked about sizes of the risotto and ordered two as one was as a "entree" size, in which everyone at the table heard, yet he gaslit us and said we only ordered one, then told us that we were putting another order out by ordering it, and saying that we hadn't ordered 2 risotto's in the first place. I'm Italian and the risotto was grainy ?undercooked and below average in flavour plus the boards were basic with very little bread. But the main reason for the review is the unpleasant behaviour of the (assuming) owner, the male wait staff from Rio was friendly. But the other is the reason we wouldn't come back- he made us feel so unwelcome and we couldn't get over how he was putting us off as if we were not Paying customers. We're all hard working registered nurses from sydney so we clearly know what good service is & that wasn't it. My friend also lost his dad 2 weeks ago and this guy put us off the day (it being Father's Day) and told the owner "we get it, you don't need to repeat it to us" and i feel bad as he was very upset. Then the owner after was asking how it was and we just wanted to keep the peace & left as quickly as we could. View was great but that was it. But yeah mate we...

My Wife and I called into Mount Broke on the way home from camping in Garland Valley for a late lunch, arriving just before 2pm.

I approached a male staff member and said we were looking to have light lunch/afternoon tea. He mentioned that the kitchen was pretty busy and there would be a bit of a wait for food, not a problem for us as we were not in a rush. They looked like had a few large groups who had been seated earlier in the day and were towards the end of their service.

We went and sat down and waited patiently for some service, it was about 15 minutes before the male staff member came back and brought us a bottle of water and said it was ā€œbusier than it lookedā€ and he would be back shortly with some menus. We were a little surprised at the long wait for a bottle of water but once again not in a rush so shrugged it off, plus my partner and I have worked in service industries before so are pretty understanding.

We then waited another 35 minutes before a female staff member approached and asked us if we were ready to order. I mentioned we hadn’t seen a menu yet, she got us some menus and said she would be back shortly. 10 minutes later she had still not returned and we decided to leave without ordering.

In the time we had been sitting a large group had been seated (after we were) and served water, menus and cocktails.

It was obvious that the venue was much more concerned with serving the larger group than us, the male staff member had a very strange attitude which we found unpleasant.

We decided to drive over to Elliott’s at Oakvale which we would highly recommend, the staff there were fantastic and the food & drinks...

Food was amazing. We had two servers, our male server was very passive aggressive the entire service. Approached our table, asked if we were ok, then ignore our coffee order and turned around, cleared the table next to us and then never came back. Our group decided to leave as we had a wine tasting booking to get to and on our exit the male server returned and repeatedly blamed our time limit on his failure to return. We were happy to leave as they seemed busy but were disappointed with this passive aggressive response. To be clear we did not call this server over, he approached us and we didn’t complain or talk back to our him. We left once it was clear he was not planning to return but as we were leaving he repeatedly spoke to each of us, blaming us for not having coffee. It was very weird as it seemed he had time to complain to us for a significant period but we just were trying to leave after a pleasant meal. Food was delicious, view was amazing and our other server was excellent, this guy seemed to have a chip on his shoulder from the start but this doesn’t represent the...

Phil and the team are beyond helpful and friendly. We had a big celebration there the night before our wedding and they handled drinks and wood fired pizzas for 100 people without a problem. It was the perfect start to our wedding weekend! The view is spectacular!! A long lunch, wine tasting or even afternoon into night is amazing. Perfect place to just sit and look at the vines with a stunning backdrop. Phil also let us pop back in on the Saturday while we were getting our wedding photos as it started to rain. He gave us shelter and a little board of snacks while we waited. Service is second to none, I will be back every single time I visit the Hunter, Mount Broke Wines holds a very special place for us! We were staying in Broke for the weekend and really enjoyed Mount Broke for their amazing pizza's on Friday night. We liked it so much that we came back on Saturday lunch for their gourmet menu šŸ˜‹! Also, the view on Yellowstone is breathtaking and their selection of wines from their vignyard is the cherry on the cake. Thank you again Stanislas (french chef) and ZoĆ© for your kindness and professionalism.
