Ella's Diner — Restaurant in Buronga

August 2025- Below is my old review. We recently got fuel and ordered lunch. There is never that much to choose from but it usually beats having to drive into Mildura which takes more time. On my last visit very recently I was spoken to so rudely by a grey haired woman serving at the diner there that we are never going back. I’m a friendly person and at first I was taken by surprise. A verbal exchange ensued and she just got ruder. I can’t remember when I’ve ever met a more rude person just because I wanted to change my already small order. It is not rocket science but she got very jumbled up.

The chips and pies here are among the best I’ve tasted. If you want a healthy meal, they have a variety of meat and salad rolls. Unfortunately these are made from the worst rolls. I’ve stopped here quite a lot and usually want a healthier meal. This past weekend (April 2nd 2023) I had a salad roll and could barely eat half of it. Not only were the rolls the usual supermarket type but it was hard and stale. The salad had big chunks of tomato that looked old and some green thing cut very thick. I don’t know what it was. It’s so disappointing when this is the only thing to eat when heading east. A little bit of care and organisation would be very much appreciated (as well as hygiene). Stopped off here on the way back to Adelaide. Purchased a coffee that was good, but what was outstanding were the chicken nuggets!

Massive chunks of chicken breast, the batter/coating was spiced just right, possibly a little too much salt for some...So don't put in additional salt guys.

Really well cooked (Perfectly cooked) Staff member asked 'Do you want six?

I said yes thinking six nuggets they are so large you have to realise. What did I get? A massive bag of nuggets!! For $6.00 I ate them all the way to Adelaide, in fact I had two left in the bag.

If you stop here - Do not miss the nuggets. I'm sure your be 100% in agreement with me on them. Best nuggets I've ever eaten AND the best...

Very annoyed with my service, girl behind the counter was rude. I ordered a medium chips, crabstick X2 and wings x4, she then served two other people and packed their crabsticks first meaning there were none left for my order. I was then handed my chips and nothing else, asked what else I had and when she realised there were no crabsticks left my options were to wait for more or get extra wings. I asked for extra wings, then when we got to the car realised I still only had the four I paid for. I was too annoyed to go back in and fix it up, won't return for the food here as even the...
