Went as a table of four to the Chidlow Inn Tavern for lunch. Arriving at 1pm, there was only one other table seated, so the dining room was nice and quiet. After taking our pick of the tables, we were promptly attended to by a very pleasant, helpful and happy waitress. We ordered our drinks (soft drinks) which were delivered to the table very quickly. The lemon lime and bitters was more of an orange coloured lemon drink, but we forgot to ask for our extra bitters (which is a regular thing we do). We settled on ordering 3 chicken parmigiana and one scotch fillet. Our food all came at once, which was very good. The chicken parmigianas were of excellent quality, the chicken was moist, with a light crumb coating, a fresh tomato sauce and cheese. The dish was served with chips which were well cooked and a salad dressed in a very tasty mustard vinaigrette. The scotch fillet was ordered as medium well, and came out a little over cooked, but by no means dead. The steak was served with a generous serve of garlic sauce, which was very tasty, if not a little too much, and the chips and salad of the same quality as the parmigiana. Overall the quality and quantity of the food was excellent. The only negatives I can think to give to the Chidlow Inn is the quality of the tables and chairs. Our four-top consisted of two small plastic tables with chrome legs, one of which creaked quite loudly whenever the slightest pressure was placed on it, the chairs were of a aluminum tube construction with padded back and seat, which whilst comfortable, tended to cut in just behind the knees. Facilities would be a 3/3 if the tables and chairs were updated to reflect the colonial style decor throughout the dining room. All in all a great little pub, and a great place to have a meal. $110.00 for...

I really loved going here with family on a Sunday. The drive is beautiful and the building is really fascinating from both a historical and design perspective. A really lovely example of a refurbished early colonial building, and there’s plenty of curios around the rooms inside to give you a feel for the origins of the property.

There’s indoor and outdoor seating, and although the place was busy during our visit, the staff were on the ball, kept us informed, helped us amuse the kids (they are GREAT with children and actually bring a highchair out for you without you asking which rarely happens when you’re dining with small kids).

The food was absolutely delicious, wonderful chips, big servings and lovely presentation. I had a chicken burger made with Turkish bread and it was so good. It came with chips and salad, and I was quite full when I was done. My husband had the Trainwreck Burger. It’s a real challenge, but if you can’t finish it, the staff will bring you a container to take any leftovers with you. Everyone in our booking really enjoyed their meal and my daughter ate most of what was on her plate (for once!).

I cannot overstate the kindness of the staff. It’s worth a drive from Perth and surrounds to have lunch at the tavern, then go for a quick drive to the nearby lake to relax (Lake Leschenaultia, a very pretty spot that you can even go for a swim at, with...

My wife and I stopped in at the Chidlow Tavern for lunch on our way back from the Toodyay markets. A great old pub, with plenty of history and charm. Apparently it was called The Oxford Inn when it first opened in 1884 as part of the railway connection from Guildford. We found the food and service to be first class. We didn't find a need to walk up to the bar to order a drink, as the waitress came to us and then brought our drinks to us. Now that's great service. We shared the Station Masters sharing plate and found that plenty for 2 people. We also had the Pancake Stack. The only problem was that management allow dogs in the pub and going to the male toilets you have to pass the area of the lounge where the dogs and their owners are and it absolutely stinks of that "dog smell". This, in my view, is very unhygienic. I personally think that all animals should be banned from all eating establishments. The service and food gets 5 stars but unfortunately the dogs bring my...

A delicious meal and reasonably priced - definitely stop by for dinner if you are passing through! The kitchen opens at 5:00pm so if you get there earlier you can check out the park across the street while you wait. The BLT was fantastic! 5/5 Not at all skimpy on the bacon and enough tomato and lettuce to keep the sandwich feeling fresh. I almost would want a little more L and T but no complaints. The sauce finished the dish greatly! Chips were tasty. The pumpkin salad was good. 4/5 Nice and fresh and a good portion. The cheese was a nice addition. The kids meals were great! 5/5 The chicken nuggets weren’t just some cheap freezer brand (well I don’t know for sure but it looked like they were fresher). Great big portions. The noodles were actually quality noodles and not just garbage they keep around for kids. It was nice to see they treated the kids meals like actual meals and not an afterthought. Fire engine lemonade 5/5 tasty and original

Don't let the weathered rustic corrigated shanty exterior fool you. Step inside and you'll see the place suprisingly level up to rather nice with a classic, cosy country aesthetic that's not ratty at all. I'm talking your dark deep rich woods, rich red carpet with that oh-so-common patterned scout icon, and kitchy country stuff like stain glassed lights, a mural on the wall, a fire place, barrels, and antiques. It's a great blend between a nice country home and old pub. The outside area is pretty cool and has a big capacity. I can see it going off with a band - there is a stage out there too. A mark above an average, dull does-the-job country pub. Don't let scruffy porch sofa pull your leg.

An old school tavern that feels like a colonial house and a barn. This place has rustic, character and old world charm. It even has lots of cobwebs around the place for that extra feel. The food portions are really huge and it tasted pretty good. So you are getting value at this place. Sundays they have a sesh with live music so it was good to chill after a hills run/ cruise and to have a coldie, good company and some country experience.
