I love using local produce. I have NOT EVER purchased fresh produce from any supermarket since 2018.
I love going into local fresh produce outlets and talking to people who know what their business is all about; friendly and experienced staff members who know their seafood and are able to advise which seafood is appropriate for recipes.
I was at Tweed River Seafoods on Friday. I discussed with one of the fellas about which fish is best for making a Thai Green Curry. Initially I was going to purchase a bream. However, he advised a few choices; one of them being monkfish, he explained that it will keep its shape, absorb the flavours and not be too overbearing in taste.
Just before Christmas last year I purchased fresh prawns I was able to discuss with one of the fellas on how to keep them for Christmas Day.

   Read moreI've been going to Tweed River seafoods for a few years now. I go every Friday after work for some lunch. In all my experience Ive never had a bad experience with customer service or the food. All the employee are super nice and management are actually passionate in their work and in seafood. All the food is cooked right in front of you so you know you're getting the freshest and beat quality seafood. I'll continue my Friday ritual no matter what.

There wasnt much fish fillets to choose from when l was there a big dew fish some gold band whole fish ..flake dew, local mullet fillets prawns. A menu of cooked seafood and chip combinations...l had dew mulloway and chips 19 bucks the fish was cooked nice but the chips were rough so yellow looking they looked radioactive... 20 for the crumbed fish as the chips went in bin even my dog turned his nose up at them...staff were attentive and pretty quick as a few customer's were there...nice place across road on river to eat or eat outside...no my local favourite but the only true fish chip seafood shop in...
