Had lunch here on a hot Saturday in Sept 2017; overall OK. Place was pretty busy in the beer garden & dining areas, the front bar etc. wasn't so busy, and there's no TAB facility (there is in another nearby pub over the road though). They had a good-sized kids' jumping castle set up near the beer garden, a great draw-card for families & the kids loved it (even though it was hot with little shade, though there's little they could do about that in that particular area). Beer garden & table areas were pretty big, rustic & good. Couldn't see or feel any indication of air conditioning anywhere inside, their ice machine had apparently failed earlier that day, & the bar service in general was a bit average, which was a bit disappointing. Food was fairly impressive for a country pub, well-presented, not cheap but not badly over-priced, food service was good. Not a bad place to stop in Denman, & pretty good all things...
Read moreJust had a meal at The Royal Hotel in Denman. After waiting 1 hour and 20 minutes for our meals, entree came out same time as mains. Luckily we weren't in a hurry and happily waited. I feel we should have been told about the wait time when we ordered. If we had known we probably would have gone elsewhere. We sat near the counter and observed many customers coming back to the counter and asking about wait times. Some very annoyed and quite abusive to the young Irish girl behind the counter. It was clearly not her fault and she did tell us that there was a new chef on tonight. The girls serving were run off their feet. Clearly management need to address this. I felt sorry for the two girls serving who copped all the flak from unhappy customers. The meal when we finally received it was very nice. Not sure it was worth the...
Read moreThe Royal is the best !!! We’ve visited many country pubs over the years as we travel in our van. This pub has so many good reviews we wanted to try it and I’d have to put the Royal Hotel at the top of the list. The meals, while perhaps a little more expensive than usual pub grub are certainly restaurant quality, and then to make the whole arrangement even better. The RV provision is absolutely excellent. Plenty of room for campervans, caravans, motorhomes and even the big rigs can fit out the back on a beautifully mown area, probably 1/2 an acre. Then, just to be sure the campers are comfortable, there are toilets and showers provided. I’d not hesitate to return to Denman. I believe we spent more in the pub because the generosity of the owners pays dividends. Thank you to the Royal...
