Each bite bursts with flavor and textureâcrisp, creamy, and zesty, embodying the true spirit of Delhi street food. The Onion Bhaji is light and crispy, with thinly sliced onions fried to golden perfection. These fritters are subtly spiced and paired with a refreshing mint chutney that cuts through the richness.
For the main course, the Kofta is a revelation: tender, melt-in-the-mouth vegetarian dumplings served in a creamy, aromatic gravy thatâs rich without being overwhelming.    Read moreCould this be Canberraâs best Indian restaurant? When the ârona was at its peak in April, we swung by Melba shops one Saturday morn to walk the dog and get a coffee. Grabbed a flyer for âFrom Delhi to Canberraâ while I waited for the brew. OMG, look at all their naan options, I thought. We finally went last Sat night for a sit down meal. Were very impressed. Do you have lassis? Yes, would like to try a rose lassi? Whaaat? Can there be such a thing? My beloved was thrilled with her choice, and kindly shared a bit. Verily, I say unto you, you must try their rose lassi, and the mango lassi. Thick and tasty and definitely weâll order them again. The Chicken 65 entrĂ©e was hot and zingy and I am so happy with the choice. Beloved tried some in India last year, and wanted to see what an Australian version was like. Tremendous dish. Delhi to Canberraâs daal makhani, lamb biriyani with raita, and the anchovy & spinach naan were all full of flavours. The hardest part about returning in July will be trying to not order the same thing again, because each dish was superb. Service too was attentive and excellent. Please, if youâre ordering take away/pick up, order via their website and Menulog, because the third-party sitesâ charges are too high. Using the restaurantâs site helps their family business to maintain their staff. Like so many local hospitality businesses, they need our support if we can provide it. Could this be Canberraâs best Indian restaurant? I need to return for a second opinion, but based on our first visit, theyâre definitively in...
Read moreWe've been in Canberra for 2yrs, but due to Covid etc we hadn't made it out for Indian food, until now. A friend recommended another restaurant but it was booked out, so a quick google search later we found Dehli to Canberra 5mins drive away at the Melba shops. The restaurant was cute, warm and buzzing. The food was incredible. We ordered a lot of finger food to cater for our particularly picky younger children. Starting with the best vegetarian samosas I've ever tasted (pastry and filling were truly special).
We also had: Chicken tikka (among the best I've tasted) Seekh kebab (spicy, smoky, delicious) Amritsari Machhi (absolutely incredible spice infused battered fish. Batter was so light and crispy) Goat Curry (rich and delicious, meat falling from the bones) Lamb Madras (oh my God unbelievable!) Yellow Daal (velvety and delicious)
All the curries were so fresh, vibrant and full of flavour. We had Garlic naan and Garlic and cheese naan that were absolutely amazing. The raita, even the saffron rice were perfect. My Mrs and I like to say that you really can tell when food is cooked with love, you can taste it. That attention to detail and pride you have when presenting food to guests in your own home. That's how we felt when we left this restaurant, full, happy, buzzed. Worth every cent and it was also very reasonably priced.
Thankyou,...
