Owner takes no responsibility for poor service. Just blames unhappy customer, see his reply. 9.30am was quiet. Busier at 10.30 when we finally got to eat. So yes, fully booked at 11am.
As for a free meal. Uh. No. I appreciated you not charging us for our disappointing meal, that is standard service. My issue was more how you sat there and argued about how there was nothing wrong with it. Next time, just say "I am so sorry, did you have any suggestions for improvement?" A little more acidity and longer fermentation on the slaw would improve it.
Main point is, be polite to disgruntled customers! Simple principle in the service industry. Otherwise... Bad google review!
Original review:
Sooooo slow! Possibly due to several waiting staff standing around not doing a lot, more likely inefficient kitchen processes. And cold. I was quite unimpressed with my near one hour wait for food on a relatively quiet Sunday morning. It would have been much less unpleasant if the heater had been turned up a little to counter the constant winter draft.
When the food finally arrived it was both burnt and undercooked. Quite an achievement. But most of all the Harvest Bowl I ordered was overwhelming boring, the bland flavour only mildly compensated by attractive presentation (but who goes out to eat with their eyes alone?). My wife ordered French Toast but only ate half of it as it was dry and lacking flavour other than the over-abundance of Nutella sauce. We complained of our disappointment to which the manager dismissed our complaints and defended his menu.
Well, so long Bite to Eat. We won't be back.
P.S. Thanks for reading my Google review and making comment about it as I paid for my coffees and meal (you didn't make us pay for our meals which was appreciated). Your comment that the heaters were on did little to warm my frozen, stiff legs. I appreciate that you can't turn them up fully due to constraints. I feel overall we were dismissed as difficult customers and I anticipate very little if anything will be done about our complaints. Which is what I find most disappointing. I was legitimately freezing (and today was actually a fairly warm, winter's day), my food was extremely bland, we waited a significantly long time for service. All of that would have been nice to get acknowledgement for rather than a brush off. You have my feedback now so over to you to make the changes necessary to stop further customers deciding never to come back.
P.P.S. The others eating with us felt their food (Eggs Bene, Chicken Burger and Granola) was very good. This is worth...
Read moreWe have been coming here for years but have felt the standard dropping in recent visits. Made a booking for mum/aunts birthday, nothing was mentioned at time of booking or on arrival about the table being needed within the hour for another booking. We were told 15 minutes before they required the table that we needed to leave by 10am, we then felt rushed and obliged to hurry through. We wouldn’t mind having a time limit as this isn’t uncommon these days but to not be told until right before was disappointing. Food was fine but paying $5 for a side of mushrooms we expected more than a single mushroom, likewise more than a single rasher of bacon. Overpriced for what you get. Sad, as it’s a lovely cafe and has treated us well for many years but the past few visits have been very...
Read moreA Bite To Eat is under new ownership and I can tell you that it does NOT disappointment.
It's had a modern facelift that makes the cafe feel comfortable and inviting.
Owner Brett and his team were friendly and attentive. It really delivers that personal touch to your cafe experience.
The menu has been well thought out and has plenty of options for dietary requirements. I had the bacon and egg roll and it had the perfect ratios and was very flavoursome.
It is located in a quiet green suburb with a childrens playground located across the road. It is a great re-addition to the local Woden area.
So if you're looking for a new Cafe to try out or want to return to a familiar place (but better) I would highly recommend you give the new A Bite...
