Busy zooming in on Europe film commitment now, but at around a quarter to eight yesterday night, I ordered exquisite Rama's take away from the Fiji Indian Restaurant, (in Shopping Centre), practically opposite my house, (this last two years, as far as I'm aware?). My $14 Appertizer or first course of Fish Pakoras was satisfactory. My main dish of the $29 Lamb Karma delicious & sauce definitely as rich and creamy as promised. But what enhanced dish the very most, with the best taste sensation to the already fresh spice taste and chewy cubes of lamb, was my Mango chutney and very generous Steamed Rice, although difficult to get Rama's to understand on the phone that I definitely only wanted the one serve and not two as they kept trying to insist! I would be ordering this overall amazing $50.50 delicious food regularly, but for one mishap. The accusation from restaurant that I was angry. Nothing is further from the truth and I think I could easily prove this from the packed to the rafters restaurant where I recognised most of the Pearce Village Neighbourhood Watch, who for some reason only ever arrange their Village Banquet table at an altogether different and highly traditional Saigon Restaurant of mainly Vietnamese dishes. Plus, my phone order of a 'worth every cent $50.50' was taken quickly and efficiently, other than my having to say, at least five times, that I only wanted a single serve of Steamed Rice. The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission, (ACCC) suggest many packed or unsafe restaurants often accuse new walk in customers of behavior never actually witnessed and I did explain this to the delightful mature woman serving me inside and also reminded her that Canberra's online ordering infrastructure was rife with cyber crime and some of us are wise enough to avoid the clunky, clicky wait on NBN & simply phone on in. Quite contemporary really, but false accusation? Only ever in Canberra, I'm afraid, the renowned corrupt place for Elder Abuse, according to AFP Next Of Kin Cards Emergencies and Crime Stoppers Australia. chrisMsimon - Respected Elder ACT Constituent &...

Fijian Indian food is Indian food, but much lighter & not as oily. The curries are sweeter and you can taste the herbs/spices used in the cooking - much more textural. If you ask for mild, it will have no spice at all. To add spice, you will receive some raw red chillies in soy sauce.
Ordered fish pakora for entree - this was like a orange-tinged beer batter coating over fish pieces.
Roti potato & pea parcel also for entree - this was a lovely chunky potato & sweeter-than-normal filling. Delightfully tasty.
Tried the Bombay Beef - a peanutty, flavour with lots of sauce. I really enjoyed the beef pieces which were cubed and very lean but not dry - also had a slightly smoky flavour to it.
Mango chicken - pieces of mango in the dish making it fruity & sweet. Lean cuts of chicken.
The roti bread is made with wholemeal so much grittier & more doughy. Not like Malaysian Roti (flaky, layered) and not fluffy lndian Naan bread. We ordered both plain & garlic roti and decided it was basically a health food 😆
Fijian Indian food is a nice way to enjoy the exotic Indian cuisine but without the layer of oil you...
Read moreFirst time here, my Fijian Indian mate Arun took me here on Saturday night. We live in Sydney, but my mate told me since we were spending the night in Woden, we had to have dinner at Rama's. He said it's like his mum's cooking which we both miss since his mum's passing. We pre-booked weeks ago, when we arrived at 7pm, the restaurant was nearly full already. Minnie is the host & owner, she was great, she remembered my mate from his previous visits, she remembered my name. She recommended different dishes, but we knew what we wanted. My mate wanted goat curry and I wanted fish curry. Also got a fish entree, rice, popadams, roti & chutneys. All good was great, brought back memories. The waiting staff, all the girls looked after us. The restaurant is BYO, there is a liquor store next door, if you want a drink. So overall, a great experience, 10/10. Rama's owner Minnie is such a lovely welcoming lady. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a bit of spice and a great friendly environment. You won't be...
