Almost 3 weeks before. My family and I recently visited Canberra from Nepal and decided to have dinner at Mustang Restaurant. Being excited to indulge in authentic Nepalese cuisine, we had high hopes for our dining experience. Unfortunately, our visit turned out to be a massive disappointment.
The food we received was of extremely poor quality. The flavors were lacking, and the overall taste left much to be desired. It was disheartening to have such a subpar culinary experience, especially when we were expecting the genuine flavors of Nepal.
Adding to our disappointment was the abysmal service we encountered. The staff members were inattentive, unresponsive, and seemed disinterested in providing a satisfactory dining experience. It was frustrating to be neglected and left unattended throughout our meal.
Moreover, the condition of the washroom was appalling. It was unclean, lacked basic hygiene, and left us with an uncomfortable feeling throughout our visit. This neglectful maintenance further contributed to our overall dissatisfaction.
To make matters worse, we were shocked by the exorbitant bill we received at the end of our meal. Considering the abysmal quality of the food, the poor service, and the unpleasant ambiance, we were utterly disappointed to be charged such a significant amount. It felt like a complete waste of our hard-earned money.
Regrettably, I cannot recommend mustang Restaurant to anyone based on our experience. Our whole family left feeling disheartened and dissatisfied. It is crucial for others to be aware of the lackluster dining experience we endured during our visit.
I sincerely hope that the management of mustang Restaurant takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary improvements. As customers, we believe in honest reviews and hope that our concerns are addressed to ensure a better experience for future patrons.
Overall, our visit to Muglan Restaurant was a regrettable experience. We urge everyone to consider other dining options in Canberra, as mustang Restaurant failed to meet even the most basic expectations of quality food, service, and...
Read moreFantastic service by the waitresses; they were very attentive, kept our water jugs filled, explained the menu to us and were patient when we took a long time to order. It would have been nice to talk to the owner or chef to add to the fantastic service.
Food was okay, not my favourite but edible. I wasn't a fan of the Eggplant Masala which I felt had too much of a tomato flavour. We also ordered the Momo entree, the Chicken Biryani, Lamb Rogan Josh and Goat Curry. I would have liked a creamier sauce for the main dishes. However my family liked the food and ate it.
We ordered the Mango Lassi but it tasted too much of yogurt and not enough of mango for me and I didn't finish it. However my family drank their mango lassi and liked it.
The decor in the restaurant could use some work; The tables and walls were okay but felt a bit gloomy and some of the prayer flags had fallen and were hanging down. The decorative jars of spices were very dusty, which isn't a great look. The back of the restaurant was being used to store furniture which was unappealing to look at during dinner. The main artwork was hung crooked, which was annoying. Some of the plants were browning and looking a bit unhappy. And we walked past a dripping, leaky air conditioner into the restaurant, which was a bit concerning!
However the hanging lanterns and traditional atmospheric music were lovely and made me feel a little like I was actually in Nepal.
Overall the Mustang Nepalese restaurant was okay, but not my favorite so 3/5 stars. I felt that there's better restaurants around for the same price and with a better experience; I'd go back to them before...

I recently visited this Nepalese restaurant with high expectations but unfortunately left feeling quite disappointed. While the service was passable and the staff seemed polite enough, the food was far below average, which made the entire experience underwhelming.
To begin with, several dishes were not up to standard. The chicken, had an odd sweetness to it—something you wouldn’t expect in authentic Nepali cuisine, where the flavors are traditionally more balanced and savory.
The Thali, which is usually a highlight of Nepali dining, was a letdown. The saag didn’t have a good taste. When we asked for ghee, they said they didn’t have any. The daal and aalu tama had a very strong taste too. The salt and other spices levels were excessive in most items, making them quite unpleasant to eat.
The momos, which I was particularly looking forward to, were overly oily and had a squishy, almost rubbery texture. Also, seemed like there was more veggies than chicken in chicken momo. Achar was salty too. They lacked the distinct flavor and taste that momos are known for, leaving me disappointed.
Overall, while the service was decent, the poor quality of the food overshadowed everything else. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant unless significant improvements are made to the food preparation and attention to authentic flavors. There are better places to enjoy Nepalese...
