I brought some friends to Twin Rivers Café for brunch recently, hoping to share what I thought was a great local spot. I had visited the previous week with a group of ten and wanted to support the place again, this time with friends from out of town.
When we arrived, the older woman working (potentially the owner) informed us they were closing but said she could still do takeaway coffees and bacon and egg rolls, which we appreciated. However, when I ordered the coffees, she asked me something I didn’t quite catch. I must have misheard or misunderstood, as her immediate response was to roll her eyes at me. I was taken aback, this kind of behaviour isn’t something I’ve encountered often, especially not in a small country town where people are usually known for their warmth and hospitality.
Mistakes with orders or delays I can easily overlook, but overt rudeness is something else entirely. It was uncomfortable and frankly disappointing. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend the place to others. In a small town, word travels fast, and it’s hard to rebuild trust...
Read moreTwin River cafe is in a beautiful heritage listed building. As a party of four we came in at 8am, ready for an early breakfast. We ordered and waited....and waited....and waited. Despite that we were the only customers ordering food, it took almost 50 minutes for our breakfasts to be served. It was only at that point that also our coffee was served. That was a shame as we would have ordered a second cup if the service had been a bit faster. The food was average, with the bacon&egg roll being the stand-out. At the time we were there there were two staff. One staff was attending the breakfast cooking as well as attending to all the walk-in customers ordering coffee. The second staff sat at a table, absorbed in watching a video on her phone. She did not offer to assist until asked by the other staff member about 45 minutes later. How will they cope when it gets...
Read moreCalled to have lunch was told it would be a 45 minute wait . With only one person waiting in this Cafe 45 minutes to wait for hot food is not right . Then asked for a sandwich instead and was told still a 45 minute wait for a sandwich .in a small town trying to encourage people to come to eat this is not that way to go about costumers returning . We left with out even purchasing a cold drink after one and half hour drive to arrive there on a Monday at 1.25 pm in the day . I would leave zero star rating but have to put one star...
