After snorkeling the reef all day and discovering that whale sharks swim faster than a slightly overweight 58-year-old in a wetsuit, we staggered into EGFC in desperate need of carbs and cold beer.

Now, don’t expect table service here — this is Exmouth, not The Ritz. You fetch your own drinks and fish ’n’ chips from the bar. But honestly? That makes it better. You get to meet the super-friendly crew face-to-face, order your pint of Northern Crisp (a lager so refreshing it deserves its own weather forecast), and then carry your plate of golden, perfectly battered fish and crunchy chips straight to the harbour view.

The food? Magnificent. The kind of fish and chips that make you question why you ever settled for a greasy paper-wrapped takeaway. The setting? A postcard with beer taps. The vibe? Mateship and sunshine, even if you’ve still got salt water in your ears.

EGFC isn’t just a meal — it’s the after-party for your reef adventure.
