Nestled within the picturesque Wilson's Prom, I stumbled upon a hidden culinary gem that left me in awe. This unassuming little spot boasts a breathtaking view that could make any food lover weak at the knees. A lovely family-run business, their passion for gastronomy is palpable, and the potential for them to evolve into a fine dining destination is evident.
One aspect that truly impressed me was their commitment to sourcing exceptional produce from neighboring businesses. The flavors that grace their dishes are simply delightful, showcasing the best of what the region has to offer. It's a testament to their dedication to quality and supporting local suppliers.
Now, let's talk about their ciders. These unique libations are an absolute must-have for any festive gathering. Each sip is a tantalizing journey of flavors, teasing the palate and leaving a lasting impression. The ciders alone are reason enough to pay a visit to this establishment.
However, as an experienced food critic, I would be remiss not to offer a suggestion. To truly elevate the experience and attract a wider audience, I would highly recommend bringing in a skilled chef to curate a menu of exquisite dishes. By combining the exceptional produce they already source with the talent of a seasoned culinary artist, this establishment has the potential to draw in crowds seeking a remarkable dining experience.
In conclusion, this hidden gem in Wilson's Prom holds great promise. With its awe-inspiring view, passionate family-run operation, and delightful sourced produce, it has the foundation to blossom into a remarkable fine dining destination. A word of advice: pair their unique ciders with a chef-crafted menu, and this place will undoubtedly captivate the hearts and palates of discerning food...
Read moreGurneys Cidery: An Unforgettable Experience (Seriously, 10/5 Stars!) Wow, what an absolute gem of a place! Gurneys Cidery isn't just a destination; it's an experience that truly goes above and beyond expectations. If I could give it more than five stars, I absolutely would – this place is a solid 10/5! From the moment our group of five adults and three kids walked in, we were greeted with such hospitality, warmth, and genuine helpfulness from the staff. Their welcoming nature immediately set the tone for a fantastic visit, making everyone, young and old, feel right at home. But let's talk about the stars of the show: the ciders, the cheese platters, and that incredible Pinsa! The selection of ciders is simply phenomenal, offering a diverse range to explore for the adults. What truly impressed was how expertly the cheese platters were paired with the ciders and other delectable items. It's clear that a lot of thought and care goes into curating these combinations, enhancing the flavours and creating a truly delightful tasting journey. And the Pinsa! Oh, the Pinsa. It was simply divine – a perfect complement to the ciders and cheeses, and a hit with everyone. We even missed out on the underground tour this time, which just gives us another fantastic reason to return! We'll definitely be back, and next time, we're bringing our doggos too, which is an amazing bonus. Gurneys Cidery is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates quality, a fantastic atmosphere that caters to families, and genuinely wonderful service. We left feeling thoroughly impressed and already planning our next visit. Do yourself a favour and experience this exceptional cidery!
Oh and I forgot to mention the gardens, but you’ll have to see that...
Read moreWe've been travelling and sightseeing around Victoria over the past two weeks and our unplanned visit to Gurney's Cidery was an absolute highlight! From stunning views of Bass Strait and Wilson's Promontory and surrounded by perfectly maintained gardens the venue itself has a warm and welcoming feel with simple elegance. Staff - attentive, professional and highly knowledgeable. Food - perfectly matched with ciders on offer (local wines and beers are also available) is simple, clean and fresh with focus on local and home-made produce. Ciders - was next level experience. We've tasted 8 ciders from perfectly balanced range of apple and pear ciders some infused with other traditional and non-traditional fruit flavours such as Riesling grapes (purchased variety of 6 take-away bottles). Also to mention, we were fortunate to participate in a private tour of the cidery and underground cellar and shown insights to cider making process, conducted by the owner himself(another eye-opener). Being a hospitality industry professional over the past 35+ years with main focus on wine, beers and spirits, I've realised how underrated ciders are under current circumstances in our part of the world. What we've experienced and seen from a customer perspective, this is a very well run family business, based on hard work, vision, belief and creativity. This is a must...
