Very tasty mainly vegetarian sourdough toasties as a main for lunch. Great coffee. Choice of cakes and home-made biscuits. Home-made ice-cream a treat. Seating is spaced out around the front and back garden area on a variety of shabby chic kind of furniture. Prices are reasonable. Off the garden area is a variety of shops from unusual furniture and crafted wooden tables and vessel holders to health food, clothes and other assortments to explore.

Nice cosy place. Plenty of parking and nicexsekection of food menu items. Food, however, is quite expensive considering what is being served. It's nicely presented but not worth the value. Service varies from day to day and oerson to person. On some days you'll get great service with a smile and other days you feel like you're doing thdm a favour by asking for a coffee. The atmosphere is good but more cleaning is required on and around tables.

My nephew was up from Wollongong and had been trying milkshakes at lots of places around the mid north coast. Well, in his 11-year-old opinion.. it is that Steam & Cedar that have the best chocolate milkshake on the coast or anywhere. When asked why it was the best he stated, the chocolate, icecream, chocolate chips, cream, strawberry... there more but you get the idea... Food was quick and also great.. Would totally recommend

Apparently having a bad experience at a venue and reviewing it accurately isn’t the done thing anymore? You are right, I do only review places that I have had a bad experience with so it is usually only 1 star. With the knowledge that it was a neighbour that was at fault I’ll review the star rating as we were enjoying our meal to that point. I am going to make a point of also reviewing the places that I have a positive review with.

As for the “poor form” comment, maybe the person who wrecked our meal could explain his form. The other couple of customers who were there gave me a thumbs up when I asked him to stop.

Original review - We decided to head to the steam and cedar for a brunch, the staff were nice enough to deal with when ordering. The coffee arrived and was nice, however they stuffed up my partners latte, making a normal latte not an iced latte, my partner accepted this and to the young girls credit she did offer to remake it. The food arrived, two toasted sandwiches, mine was nice and my partner liked hers too. The problem started when some knuckle dragger decided to blow down the pathway. This was at 10:30am when people were trying to enjoy their drinks and food. He blew dust and debris all over our food and the food of a few other patrons. I told him how I felt and we promptly left! We won’t be back again, $45 on food only to have dust and leafs blown...

Detour worthy just to enjoy their sourdough toasties and Portuguese tart!

Its a beautiful cafe adorned by loads of greenery , flowers, herbs and fresh veggies. Sourdough toasties and portuguese tart are an absolute bliss! You absolutely have to have them if you are anywhere around this area, take a detour if you can you wont regret it. (Service staff is warm and sweet, but there is a wait time ~30min so be prepared and plan accordingly - @Dan thats the only thing we feel is worth improving on)

We ordered the Betty Lou (haloumi, eggplant, zucchini, mint, tomato relish) and Day Break (egg, bacon, tomato relish etc), the sourdough bread is yum - buttered and toasted perfectly without making it hard which is usually the problem with sourdough toasties! Bacon was fresh, tomato relish is great too! Veggies are absolutely fresh, perfectly soft and combinations are great.

Portuguese tart is sooo good, enjoy it with their awesome...

We stopped in here today. We ordered Toasties, Salads and refreshing ginger drinks and sat out back under the shade of a mango tree. (I can recommend the Betty-Lou toasty) The food is delicious. We also grabbed takeaway coffees which were great. The owner was friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. He explained the menu to us, and told us the produce is sourced locally and the almond milk is home-made. There is a focus on environmental consciousness. We loved that the cups and straws were Bio degradable and that all waste gets recycled. We’ll...
