Super Service
Decent food, but hit-or-miss service.
Stopped by GYG Yatala while driving between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. It’s in a super convenient spot just off the highway, with a drive-thru, dine-in, and even outdoor seating. The place looks modern and clean at first glance, but a few details were lacking.
I ordered a regular burrito bowl with grilled chicken, guac, and mild sauce. The flavours were actually great—fresh ingredients, juicy chicken, and the rice had a nice texture. Portion size was generous, too. My partner got the Cali Burrito and said it was tasty but quite heavy. We also grabbed churros, which were warm and crispy—definitely recommend them as a sweet treat.
Unfortunately, the service was pretty slow. Even though it wasn’t busy, we waited over 15 minutes for our order. A few other people around us seemed frustrated too. There were also some mix-ups—someone next to us had the wrong sauce, and we were missing napkins and cutlery. The staff were polite but looked a bit overwhelmed or distracted.
Cleanliness could be better. A few tables outside hadn’t been cleared, and bins were full. It didn’t ruin the meal, but it stood out.
All in all, the food was solid, and if you’re craving Mexican fast food on the road, this GYG will satisfy. Just don’t expect lightning-fast service or a spotless dine-in experience. If you’re ordering here, I’d recommend checking your takeaway bag before you drive off—just to be safe.
Would I come back? Maybe, but only if I’m...
Read moreGreat food, manager needs to learn how to train all of their staff and not just 1 shift-runner.
30 minutes after I ordered, and 15 minutes after the order was "Ready" according to the app, I arrived.
I showed the order number, the staff member went and found the order, looked inside and promptly walked off.
About 10 minutes later, I asked a different staff member if the order than I could clearly see was mine from the receipt on it, I got 2 blank stares from employees who kinda just shrugged.
The staff member who first found my order yelled from the back that it was just waiting on an item.
It's not the end of the world, but ffs someone needs to address the fact that out of 5 or 6 employees, not a single one of them actually told me why I was waiting for 10 minutes for an order that was "ready" that I could see sitting there.
8 years of fast-food service and the first damn thing you do when you realise there's an issue is inform the customer and offer them something for the wait... bare minimum is to let them know.
Again, great food but jfc just improve your customer service. Out of all the local GYG this one is the best for the food by a longshot but service...
Read moreHad breakfast there today, dine in. The lady who served us was delightful. The young lady who bought us our dine in meals delivered them to our table in a takeaway bag.... Attention to detail.... As for the atmosphere, I actually approached the counter and asked if they could kindly turn down the music, it's a restaurant not a night club. We were having to yell at each other across a small table to have conversation. The manager told his staff that they were unable to turn it down due to company requirements. Found the response rather offensive given the business is customer service driven yet not concerned about customer satisfaction and comfort. Funny thing is that I've eaten at many other gyg restaurants and never had that problem in that they're not a nightclub like situation. Definitely won't be returning to...
