Sometimes good, sometimes average. I'd love for the total package to hit it's stride but it seems to be rolling along like it's still working through opening jitters. So much potential to deliver but seems to be happy with its captive audience with no other choice. Food is exactly what you'd expect. Solid selection, generally cooked well...although I'm 3 for 3 for having my steak undercooked. Always remedied with a nicely done replacement so not going to moan about that. Maybe the volume of take away orders is stretching the kitchen? Maybe just the luck of the draw. It happens, they're humans.
Overall, this is my local and I want it to be great. Everyone should give it a go and support the guys. I'm sure this place will grow with its community and get better and better. My 4 stars was going to be a 3 but that seems a bit rough given how Google's rankings work. Hoping my next review...
Read moreHow many barriers to trade can one business put up? Being locals we were keen to try. Went on a whim after work at 6pm On a Wednesday - tried to book but the business has no phone. Tried to book on line but it’s so convoluted with apps and hey they may or may not get back to you (who knows if that tables booked?!) Got there with hungry family at 6.05 to snag last table in the bar. Looked at menus, went to the loo and then went to order. Sorry, we don’t take cash. No signs, no warning - just a smiling insincere bar tender saying sorry. Why not put up a sign at the counter? I’m not going to apologise for being old fashioned but I’m not a mind reader - you could have saved me 20 agonising minutes of hungry children by merely putting a sign up. Maybe my upbringing is outdated in the Googong age but I thought that businesses were there for the convenience of the customer, not the...
Read moreWe went today (Sunday) after booking a table because we had heard it can get busy. That was a good idea because the venue soon filled up. Ordered our meals which came fairly quickly so there is that. 3 of us ordered schnitzels, other 2 had the steak sandwiches which turned out to be the right choice! They were great! The schnitzel on the other hand should have come with steak knives! I have no idea how they managed to get a chicken fillet so tough and basically inedible but they did it. Also, why does it need to be coated in some sort of garlicky, salty, herbed breadcrumb mix and then sprinkled with more salt? Way to ruin a Schnitty. Here’s some advice: Keep it simple and use fresh, quality chicken and don’t cook it to death! In summary, I gave a rating of two stars out of five based on the quality of the 5 meals. 2 were great, 3 were...
