Beware all brides!
Do not have your wedding at shoreline tavern! I would recommend to stay well clear from Shoreline Tavern. Terrible management and staff do not communicate with each other, nor do they care that it’s a wedding.
Yes, the tavern has a beautiful outlook of the river, beautiful sunsets and beautiful accommodation next door. However, that is where the positive comments for this venue stops.
On the shoreline tavern wedding website, states that brides will have a dedicated wedding coordinator to assist you with all your planning needs. This is not true and it is false advertisement.
After meeting the coordinator and inspection of venue, I paid the deposit. I called my 1st wedding coordinator to ask questions regarding the venue. When I called the staff informed me that she doesn’t work there anymore and hasn’t few a few weeks. I was not informed about this.
At the 7 month mark until the wedding. I was given a 2nd wedding coordinator. She reassured me saying that she promises to stay and will assist with all my wedding planning needs.
At the 1 month before the wedding mark, I received an email from the wedding coordinator informing me that she has resigned from Shoreline tavern and will not be able to assist me on my wedding day. Of course I was in a panic and incredibly stressed.
I was unable to change wedding venues at this timeframe as guests were travelling from all over and had already booked their rooms at shoreline tavern.
I called the tavern wanting to speak with management and the chef. I was able to get a hold of the chef. The chef informed he that he was not told there was a wedding planned in one month’s time.
Once the chef Alan was aware of this he was very helpful trying to create a menu for the wedding. He let us taste test some of the food to help us make a decision of what we wanted. We were incredibly appreciative of this!
When guests were checking into their rooms. My bridesmaids were put into a different room. When she was meant to be in the same room as me the night before the wedding.
Upon check out some Guests were charged twice for their accommodation without their permission or discussion. Some guests had to contact their bank to stop this.
My guests would call the tavern to ask a question. Staff would say that they would call back but never call back. Emails were sent to ask a question but would take days to weeks for a simple reply.
At the shoreline tavern, the staff have a high turnover rate, very young and have no clue what they are doing. No one communicates with each other. The owners (whoever they are?) can not be contacted and are never present. They don’t seem to care how the tavern is run. I really don’t understand how a business can be run like this and keep their doors open?
Shoreline tavern made the planning of my wedding 6 x times more stressful due to their incompetence and poor management. This was incredibly disappointing! It really did spoil this experience for me. I lost so much trust and confidence with shoreline Tavern staff, that I felt on edge the entire wedding day. It is a shame because with the right management and staff it could be a beautiful wedding venue but at this time, it definitely is Not! I repeat! Do not have your wedding here. It is just a pub for old drunk people to get their rubber boot steak night...
Read moreHave visited this pub several times and it's been great - however last recent experience was less than impressive and leaves me not wanting to return again..I have heard that it has gone down hill and tend to agree now..even tho my previous visit to this one was only a month ago.. I ordered a coffee, 2 beers and 2 cocktails only to be told by the sirly new bar person with attitude that' she would not remember all that' and stomped off to get the coffee (which she cant make - it was all milk and froth - the worse coffee ever..!!), then she got the 2 beers going and would only take the cocktail orders 1 at a time while I stood waiting for the entire order - approx 20mins..!! Every other time I have ordered cocktails the bar person has asked me to take a seat while they make them and advised they would bring them over....No such customer service this time round... Another bar person then came on the scene and commented to her..'oh you're making a cocktail this time instead of palming it off to someone else'..!! she obviously doesnt enjoy this part of her job.. A second person went to the bar and ordered another 2 cocktails and asked the same person if they could help and her response was 'NO'..so great team spirit and attitude for a new person - hope she's on probation - cant see her lasting.. Our other issue was that after ordering lunch 1 meal was bought out after aprox 20mins, after waiting 45mins for the other 4 to be served we went to the bistro to enquire about our order - we were told there was a staff mix up with the 1st meal served and it was actually meant for another table and that they were really busy and we were next...so 10mins later (55mins all together) we finally got lunch..To be honest we would not have considered it to be overly busy when we ordered but nonetheless if that was the case I would have thought we would have been advised that there was going to be a considerable wait time? At least the person in the bistro was polite and apologetic unless the person in the bar....cant say we'll be rushing back...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to get married at the Hunter Valley Gardens so we looked around for places that could host the event and found harrigans. My mil had heard good things about it so we decided to stay there and have them host our wedding and have our reception there. I will start with the reception, my pregnant sister ordered fish and salad since EVERYTHING else on the menu she couldn't eat. As garlic, nut and gluten intolerant my choices were slim too. My sister cut into her fish and it was undercooked, I'm glad she cut it to make sure cause I likely wouldn't have. My steak, one of the few things I could eat, was rare when I ordered medium. Second steak was well done instead of medium. I gave up after that and just left it uneaten as all well done steaks should be. Our room was lovely, so is the loungeroom area. Expected a microwave, we called about it and was told she thought there was one. There wasn't. I was extremely excited to have a spa bath but I noticed quickly that the tiles around the bath were very slippery, I slipped getting out and again while rinsing the tub cause I needed to lean so far forward to turn the taps on and the now wet floor was slippery as. The jetts in the spa admitted dust and hair into the water when i ran them and its very loud but doesnt seem to work. The shower uses the same tiles so is an extreme slip hazard. Bathroom needs an update, the room only has 2 mirrors and they are both in the bathroom. Room has no exhaust fan to suck out the steam so both mirrors fog up and you are then left with wiping them with one of your 4 precious and too small towels or waiting for them to clear. The toilet is really uncomfortable to sit on. I'm a bit curvy but even my thin hubby found the lid cut into his back while he sat on it. Overall it was nice but its a shame i don't feel it's safe to have a bath again cause I really looked forward to...
