We took our chances and showed up two and a half hours before closing, to find they were still serving Devonshire tea.
We had to line up and ask for menus and that we needed to come back and line up again to order.
It was freezing, so we took a recently vacant table inside, the last one available indoors. We waited 15 minutes for someone to clear the dishes, until we did it ourselves.
When I had to line up to ask someone to wipe down all the food scraps still on the table, I was told to simply sit at another table. As there were no other free tables inside and we had an infant, we didn’t want to sit out in the cold. I asked for a cloth to clean it myself. The staff member then aggressively went and cleaned our table.
When we were finishing our food, a staff member started clearing our plates and glasses, even though we’re were still using them.
The food was really good, the setting was gorgeous and the owner seemed really nice, but some of the other staff were very professional.
If it’s busy or someone is having a hard day, it’s not hard to explain that rather than be rude to...
