This is an email I sent to the Midway Point Tavern management 4 days ago. I’m still waiting for a reply, so maybe they do need their poor staff behaviour put out publicly.
Good afternoon, I am just following up from an incident that occurred at your establishment during dinner last night. My family had a table for 5 booked for 5.30pm, to celebrate my Mother's 81st birthday. We chose your establishment as my Mum has progressive vascular dementia but still has fond memories of many meals over the years at the Midway Tavern. We were warmly greeted and shown to our table, the young woman taking our birthday cake, and wishing my Mum a "Happy Birthday". I was served by another delightful person (whom it transpires was having her first shift). Our meals came out in a timely manner, were very substantial, hot, and delicious. We watched most of your staff being wonderfully efficient and interactive with customers. Serving meals, taking away empty dishes, and cleaning down tables. Except for one young, dark haired girl, who looked as though she were under deep duress having to be there, putting plates on tables without acknowledging customers, and returning to the kitchen empty handed, even though there were tables that needed clearing (including ours). After about 35 minutes of watching this girl walk past our table completely ignoring the fact we were obviously waiting for our table to be cleared, I called out, "excuse me", she turned literally rolling her eyes and said, "yes?" I asked if she could please clear our table as were waiting to give my Mum her birthday gifts. Her response, "I suppose", she picked up 2 of the 7 plates and walked away. She then proceeded to walk past us 3 more times with empty hands. Eventually I made a comment about her being serious and she spun on me asking if I had a problem. I stated I did, the table still wasn't cleared. She spat out that she was a "kitchen hand" and it "wasn't her job". I suggested perhaps she could grab a wait staff to see if they could help, to which she aggressively responded with a point into the other dining room and stating, "She's in there, go and get her yourself!" and turned to walk away. I called out asking her to go and get me the Manager to which she threw over her departing shoulder, "nah, don't reckon." I asked another staff member to get the Manager and we waited, and waited. Eventually, the first young blonde girl who'd initially welcomed us walked past and I called out to her. She listened and apologised and offered us free drinks, which we all declined. We weren't after freebies, we were seeking polite, professional service. At the very least the young girl should have been made to come and clear our table and apologise to my Mum, for her totally inappropriate, unprofessional, and frankly disgusting behaviour. As a mother myself, I'd have been mortified to think any of my children would speak to adults in such a manner, especially adults who are paying her wage. I don't want to put a public review up about your establishment as 1 person should not be reflective of the total; however, we will never return and I won't recommend friends or family dine at the Midway Tavern. I am 53 years of age, and travelled extensively, and NEVER experienced such appallingly vile behaviour. She is an absolute embarrassment to her workplace and should be totally ashamed of herself. I would like to end this on a positive note and ask that the waitress (2 lower lip piercings) and the blonde staff member be acknowledged for their kindness, attentiveness, and professional work ethic. Read moreThe Midway Point Tavern, is not a venue I'd likely return to.
The bar/gaming/restaurant was obviously understaffed, when we arrived at 11am there was only one barmaid across all 3 areas. Understandably, this created a wait time in service which we understood and were okay with. When a second barmaid started her shift closer to 12pm, we anticipated a quicker turn around for service, however, it got worse. The second barmaids service was awful, and quite frankly, rude. I was snapped at when ordering the meals for our table, walked off on and treated like I was an issue...
Once we ordered, it was 45 minutes before I went and asked politely to the first barmaid (Ebony??), if we could have an idea on time frame. Ebony apologised and it was obvious she was in an awkward position. She really did a wonderful job.
Sitting at our table, I observed the second barmaid continuously snap at customers when delivering food, walk off on them calling out "I'll see what I can do" in a very abrupt tone when asking for their missing meals or advising something wasn't correct.
When our meals finally arrived after an hour, they were overcooked, flavours were bland and looked not appealing what so ever. My vegetables were basically mush.
We had intended to return for dinner however settled on another venue.
I hope that this feedback is provided to give training to staff on customer satisfaction and...
Read moreHad a meal in the bistro tonight, it was everybodys favourite - chicken parma, unless you're vegan. I'll note, I was asked if I wanted chips or vegetables rather than what I expected of chips with vegetables or salad, however that may be the normal around here as im new to the area all together. Food came out promptly and very hot, so freshly cooked. Also ordered 2x pints, these were decent and very cold, couldn't complain. Decent amount of seating at venue, highly suggest grabbing your table first or scopping out where you'll sit before ordering as you need a table number to order. If by yourself, come early to avoid disappointment. I would suggest to the venue in having one of the TV's in the bistro hooked up to TV entertainment program instead of having all 3 on the gambling program, there isn't much to look at out the window so having a TV going (even with a kids program to help the little ones sit still) could be a benefit. All TV's can be seen from every point of seating in the room so no need to have all 3 on the gambling program. Otherwise very happy with this venue, price vs. value vs. service scores...
