Shipwrecked Gourmet Bakery — Restaurant in Hopetoun

Generally very disappointed after my visit and reading so many reviews about this bakery. After taking two steps into the store, not a simple hello but excepted to know what I was after with the lady asking “do you know what you want?”

Very poor amount of variety with poor signage, labels and prices. Stuff using there bare hands to deal with food. I should have walked out.

Decided to get a sausage roll as I felt super pressured to decide after the lady then asked “are you going to order any food” Let’s just say $6 for a basic sausage roll is criminal for the crusty and dry boot that I received. Definitely not Gourmet and...

Food is fine but the service and atmosphere has gone down hill since new owners took over. The way the little bloke talks to customers and fellow staff is poor and already turned a lot of the locals off. Just be a bit friendlier mate and if you want to scold an employee do it in private. Putting a board up with prices would be an idea to, just so the customer can monitor the prices that seem to fluctuate from day to day on the same item. It’s not too late to turn it around mate! Would be sad to ruin a good thing so early...

I enjoyed a beef and mushroom pie that had one of the better crusts I've eaten in a while. The $8 price is what I'm finding the norm in many parts of the Southwest. Do ask for the price before you purchase, given the lack of any price list. The two staff members were helpful and friendly, making an overall good experience.
