Today I experienced what was bad customer service mixed with racism. Driving to my school we decided to stop by this hotel to eat. The woman serving us smiled to everyone but Us, she talked cheerfully to all the guest but Us. She served us with a cold demeanour, not a smile on her face, and when she was done we waited 1 hour for our starters to arrive only to be met with our main course. we ate the main course and tried to call her to ask where the starters that we ordered were but she was too busy smiling and laughing with the other guest, even when we waved for her she ignored us. Me and my mum were the only brown people there everyone else was white. We left to pay the bill without our starters (as we had waited for an extra 30 mins for nothing to arrive). My Mum got rightfully angry and explained her case but caused a scene, so we ended up looking like bad people. the person at the front created excuses saying they were really busy but that wasn’t the case there were barely any people and the worker was too busy smiling and laughing with the other people too serve us. I am truly saddened, I feel this pit in my stomach when I think about this. I’m from inner melbourne a very multicultural area so i’ve never experienced treatment like this, yes i’ve experienced bad customer service but never like this. I don’t understand how people can be so cruel just because of our skin colour. I hope this waiter learns and grows to be a kinder person because we are all human at the end of the day, I didn’t choose to be born a brown person and you didn’t choose to be white, you were just lucky enough to be. Apologises to the workers that weren’t involved in this particular incident the porterhouse...

Had a function at the pub on Saturday night. We booked it as a Birthday as it was my husband's Birthday and that is what our guests came for. My husband and I showed up in our wedding clothes as we had eloped earlier that day.

Our guests ordered meals which were brought out to the beer garden and just dumped on a dirty table that had a puddle of water and leaves scattered on it. The staff didn't state what the meals were or who they were for. They were going cold because those who had ordered didn't know they were sitting there. When we questioned why they were just dumping the plates on the table, the staff rudely stated they didn't know it was a wedding.

Firstly, it wasn't a wedding at all. We were already married when we showed up! Secondly, what has that got to do with why you would just dump the meals on a table and not inform anyone that they were there.

They weren't required to do ANYTHING different than treat it as a Birthday, which we booked for.

The pub was busy enough to be turning people away as they were fully booked. They should have been grateful we decided to bring almost 40 patrons in, who were drinking plenty and ordering meals.

The service we received was disgusting. So good job Inverleigh Hotel, you now have 40 people who...

Had a bad service experience from a woman who I assume is the manager or owner here.

Had been staying in Inverleigh and thought I would go in for dinner on a mid-week night, inject some money into the town and support a local business.

It was a bit daunting to walk in as the crowd has a very 'locals/we all know each other' vibe, but that could just be my perception.

The younger woman behind the counter was friendly, and found me a table for one. It was in the second dining room, which was basically deserted - suited me just fine as I had some things to do.

Trouble began when the older woman mentioned earlier came to wait on me. Her demeanor was very hostile and unfriendly. She seemed annoyed that I asked questions about menu items, and when she brought what I had ordered to the table she put it down without a word and left each time.

I genuinely felt unwelcome and like she didn't want me there - not a particularly good attitude for someone running a business.

The food was decent, prices were middle of the range, and I probably spent around $50.00 - that got me an entree, main and a soft drink.

That said, it's the last time they'll get any of my money as I vote with my wallet when I have a bad customer service experience. There's...

We loved our dinner here! We were looking for somewhere to stop for dinner on our way back to Melbourne from Port Fairy and this pub came up. Such a beautiful old building. Stepping inside felt like home- a cosy warm pub with great hospitality, reminds me of my favourite country pub in England. The heritage of the pub has been maintained, but the menu is definitely fresh! We ordered the garlic and cheese focaccia, Otway pasta with roasted vegetables and goats cheese and an eggplant parma. All delicious- eggplant parma was the best we've had! We saw there is a flower show on 31st October- hope to pop back for a cosy meal 😋

Well, where do I start? Let's start with me contacting the producers of Antique Roadshow to appraise the salad. I was curious to know whether the salad served up with my chicken parmigiana arrived to these shores on the HMS Endeavour or actually made it to shore from the Dutch ship the Batavia in 1628, the softness of the tomatoes would lean in favor of the latter. If you are wondering why I have given 1 star for an incredibly rare piece of history, it is because I was actually really hungry. And, unlike Powderpost beetles or moths I don't eat artefacts of high importance.

On the way home from Snake Valley, stopped at Inverleigh Hotel for dinner. No booking, got a table for 2! Had salt and pepper Calamari, roast potatoes (special order) salad, Hubby had Chicken Schnitzel chips, salad also Garlic Bread with herbs (no cheese) Delicious! Good service, nice staff, nice atmosphere, reasonably priced, nice amenities! Will come again! Cathy and Chas Melb.
