Our party of 9 people including 2 children had a really memorable and enjoyable time at Lulus restaurant. Upon arrival at 5pm (we had a 22month old bubba) so wanted to eat earlish, we were told that the pork, the salmon and stick date pudding were not available. This was a Saturday evening. I found this disappointing as I had previously look at the menu and decided that I would choose the pork. Another one of our party also wanted the pork! The drinks were great, I had the mojito and others had Long Island tea and amoretto sour, but no cherries available! So we were a bit disappointed in the unavailability of items that were key to making our night out that bit extra. The dishes that were chosen were good. We had the barramundi, sirloin steak (which was very nice) shoestring chips (ok) pork pizza with about 2 tiny pieces of pork on it, however the base was delicious and cooked to perfection. Garlic king prawns, 6 fresh, crunchy creamy prawns! The bread was fresh and dense, so delicious! The two kids meals came out last, this was really annoying and did not accomodate our party at all. We waited around 45 minutes from ordering til services for the adult meals, so the children’s meals took about an hour. The toddler was asleep by the time his meal came out at around 7pm. Such a shame as we really enjoyed the service and friendliness of the staff, the ambience of the decor and the information/history of the building and premises that our waitress shared with us was fascinating. She did a great job of making us feel well cared for. There was plenty of space for all of us and little tables that the kids could explore. It was noted that the Jenga game that my son started playing with his 6 year old daughter was an adults only Jenga, with words that she was trying to sound out and asking her dad what they meant !😂 which was pretty funny after a few drinks… but maybe a warning of sorts could be advantageous for those who would die of embarrassment if they found themselves playing this with a child. The artwork and antiques provided a bougie atmosphere and everyone in our party commented on what an enjoyable time they all had… we will definitely be back (I’m still drooling over those creamy garlic prawns) they kind of made up for the pork roast not being available. The gardens and landscaping are so beautiful, The Lodge Jamberoo is like an oasis in the lush hills of The...
Read moreThe decor quite pretty and eclectic but rather cluttered- you are seated at tables in amongst lots of couches and coffee tables, some with games laid out on them. As a vegan I was surprised to find nothing appetising in the menu at all. The best I could do was pumpkin tagliatelle with goat’s cheese. Take off the cheese and you still have a high carb meal, rather unappealing to look at. No salads available that don’t have cheese. I insisted on a side of steamed veg which was not on the menu and I obtained it with a bit of fussing- unbelievable! It is very rare to find such lack of choice in this day and age, anywhere in the world. All the meat eaters in our party also commented on the lack of good options.
The food all arrived in awhile - quite a wait. First came people’s mains, then later their entrees. We’d said to bring out as cooked, but didn’t think that might mean in the wrong order! Side dishes needed for mains arrived at different times- not with their destined dishes. Our party decided on desserts. The kids got their icecream in minutes. The adults then waited over ½ hr- to cut a piece of cake, warm up ready made crumble…. We couldn’t work out how it was taking so long with only a few tables full In the room. Then they arrived- but with no cutlery, serviettes- and they took a while to be brought out too. After we pointed it out to the staff that we needed spoons. The wait staff were friendly, but clearly either untrained or severely overworked. The whole meal cost what an expensive restaurant would cost- but without the service, ambience or food quality. Very disappointed. I think this place may have seen better days but those days are long gone. Don’t...
Read moreWhat an awesome hidden gem this is! The décor is absolutely fabulous. I loved all the art and sense of style throughout. Food (and drinks!) was excellent. And the service (not something I usually focus too much on when the food is great!) was incredibly friendly and spot on throughout our whole weekend stay!
Not surprised that both the restaurant and the gorgeous outdoor area were packed with a buzzing and vibrant atmosphere on Sunday! The locals seemed to have figured this out and kept it all to themselves.
Though I did not get to experience their a la carte menu (as I was part of a conference), the food was excellent throughout the weekend so the love, care, creativity and flair of their chef definitely shines through and I can definitely see this being a destination restaurant worth a trip.
On Sunday I also noticed lots of couples touring the place probably planning a wedding… based on the events The Lodge and Lulu’s put together for us whilst there, I can definitely see why… They went all out and created some magical experiences for us and our group just kept talking about it all weekend!
We ended up being spilt through dinner on Friday, breakfast, lunch and a fancy dinner event on Saturday, and then breakfast again on Sunday (which extended to brunch!) - all wonderful!
Thank you for such a...
