It’s been a while since I’ve been to Flying Tarts probably 2 years maybe 3 so today I thought let’s go. Was soooo looking fwd to my go to BeeSting Custard Bun cake and there wasn’t any in fact there wasn’t the normal huge variety of cakes that I remember 😢 so I went to my go to Pie Chicken and Camembert well I was a bit disappointed nothing like what I used to have, hardly any of any Camembert cheese and two tiny diced pieces of chicken the rest was broccoli 🥦 so I went to the counter and asked them if perhaps they gave me the wrong pie ? As they also sold broccoli and cauliflower pie ? They said no it was deff the Chick & Cam pie. I thought ok fair enough. But in all honesty if that’s what I got given you’s better rename is a broccoli pie and I think I probably took 6 to 7 pieces of broccoli out of it and was left with pastry 😞 can’t say I’d go back any time soon. I honestly think it’s all changed the food, cakes staff since I last went and I’m afraid to say not for the better because this place was outstanding in every way. I actually bought a Chicken and Camembert pie home & it’s in the freezer so will be interesting to see it’s it’s the same as the one I had there ? I hope not ? And I bought a meat pastie to have for dinner let’s say it was more a meatloaf wrapped in pastry nothing like a Pastie at all was just hard and solid in Texture just like a meat loaf, see image attached, very disappointed. But hey if your driving past and are hungry I’m sure you will find something you’d like. For me just not like I...
Read moreI came through this bakery with some friends a few days ago around 3:30pm. The teenaged boy serving us was lovely, nil issues. We are inside, and there was several pies in the pie warmer left which we noted were being transfered to a large metal tray. Out of curiosity, my partner asked what they do with the warmed pies at end of day, to which the boy working replied "we put them in the fridge for tomorrow". We then saw the older woman tell the boy off for telling us this. I later asked the boy if he was scared of reheating the pies over again would make someone sick, which he replied "yeah I am".
It could be unrelated but both my partner and I became unwell that evening with food-poisioning like symptoms. Regardless, we reported this food safety issue, as reheating cooked meat and pastry multiple times could make someone very unwell.
I don't think we will return to this bakery, which is a shame as we both have had positive associations with it...
Read moreI went with a group of retirement village residents to Flying Tarts for an afternoon tea. I had been in contact with Vic beforehand to make a booking and found him to be very helpful. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the outing and their afternoon tea. I was one of the five who went for the traditional Devonsire Tea and we were all very happy we did. The freshly baked scones were spot on and the jam as good as any we've ever had. The few residents who went for something warm were also very happy with their food, with one lady going on to purchase a meat pie to take home and another lady buying herself a foccacia (I think) to take home for her dinner. The other ladies couldn't resist some of the other cakes on offer. The staff were also very helpful and everyone felt a bit spoilt. Overall I'd say it was a faultless experience and I'll be voting for a return trip. I think I'll also be back with my partner one day to try out the...
