The Coffee Club Café - Lismore — Restaurant in Lismore

Had a meal here for the first time since the new owners took over, just a few weeks ago.

Wait staff were overly insistent, seriously, it's a coffee bar with food, not a restaurant!! Just leave me alone.

The food was below average. Our burgers were generous and with a large side of chips, but it was a very average burger in a world of burgers and they were surprisingly greasy. The chips were nice and my Mum actually only ate half her burger as she was full from the chips. She found a splinter in her burger from the skewer in it too, so that was a nice bonus. Not.

Our drinks were pleasant enough so no complaints there but the cakes are another matter. I have always enjoyed the signature chocolate cake, but it looked so dry and uninviting I didn't even bother. I wouldn't be surprised if it had been in the case for days! We did order another, the flavour of which escapes me, but we regretted it. It too was dry and bland.

We've always avoided Coffee Club because it's expensive, but now we'll avoid it because the food and cakes on offer really aren't that great, and it's...

Talk about double standards. In this new pre-vaccination COVID world, it's perfectly reasonable to ask customers to do the electronic signup before entering, and I did so before entering per usual. However, consistency is a must.

Presenting to order just after a group of older people, the same cashier demanded to see proof that I had signed in after asking if I had (which I confirmed). Meanwhile the small group of people ahead of me went unchecked, and were not asked to show proof of check-in.

It's fine to ask if I have, but for a near-empty store, it came across as rude and prejudicial to demand proof from and not others.

I should mention too, the coffee quality has generally been dropping in recent months, although the odd coffee...

I'm marking 3 stars just because it is very average. I normally love going to the Coffee club around the country and it is usually one of my favourite coffee brands (although pricey). The one in Lismore was very average (not bad, but not the usual amazing taste I've had in other coffee clubs). The reason they lost a second star was because they started cleaning and stacking tables around customers, 2 hours before close. There were about 5 tables sitting in and it just felt like we were being rushed out, even though we still had plenty of time. I understand it is a quieter time, maybe do half of the cafe if you don't need it, but I find it rude to be mopping and stacking tables right next to us at 3pm when you are...
