⭐☆☆☆☆ Very rude service – we won’t be back

As someone who has been coming to Windaroo Tavern occasionally for the past six years, the disgraceful and rude service we received today means our family will never return.

From the moment we arrived, the way the young female staff member "greeted" my wife was shockingly hostile and dismissive — simply for wanting to have lunch and asking a couple of questions. That first interaction was jarring, but unfortunately, it didn’t stop there.

The second encounter with the same staff member was equally rude, leaving us confused and uncomfortable, wondering if we had somehow done something wrong. By the time she brought our meals to the table, her tone and behaviour had become so openly unpleasant that we were left questioning whether this staff member had a personal issue with us — or worse, if there was a deeper bias involved.

At this point, we feel there’s little point in complaining further. The experience has made it clear that respect and basic courtesy are not a priority here. We’ll simply take our business elsewhere and won’t support a venue that allows patrons to be treated with such disrespect. This is from a family that has celebrated many birthdays and family celebrations here, that had previously left 5 star reviews now...

Booked for Christmas buffet lunch and was told couldn’t prepay over phone and I could just pay on the day. That took 4 phone calls for them to work out and let me know. Got there on Christmas Day and they didn’t have my booking (after 4 calls... shrug). The gave us a spare table outside, but didn’t walk us to the table only to halfway across the restaurant area and pointed and said sit anywhere you want. Did not explain or tell us the process of the buffet and then I got yelled at by a server as I wasn’t sure what to do. Yes yelled at, so much that another patron said to the server to calm down and came to see if I was ok. This pretty much ruined my day. The food selection however was brilliant and the food was tasty. The bar wasn’t stocked very well and the signage was not clear. My partner went to where it said to order drinks and then got told to go to another place to order the drinks. Very confusing. A little bit of attention to detail of explaining things when guests show up would alleviate a lot of confusion and definitely improve the customer experience. This was the third chance we have given Windaroo tavern, and unfortunately we won’t be returning which is a shame as...

My family and I have eaten here many times and love the food, it's great value and delicious! However we ate here saturday night with some family that had travelled insterstate and the service from 2 of the staff was deplorable, one of them in particular was extremely rude. We were very caught off guard by this as the service is usually great. There were multiple things that we found very disappointing however the icing on the cake was when we asked for takeaway containers, the staff member made no acknowledgement to the request, proceeded to walk off and do other tasks, I eventually headed to the bar & waited, eventually the same staff member brought out a sheet of aluminium foil and placed it on the counter and said here and walked off. When I requested proper containers I was then charged $1 per container, something I've never experienced at any pub before.

This is very out of sorts for Windaroo Tavern as every other experience we've had has been wonderful, we're hoping it wont happen again in the future

The manager on duty by the name of Uncle was very helpful and understading of our complaint, he was very kind...

My wife and I were very dissapointed last night. We ordered 2x burgers which we waited an eternity for, then to add insult to injury the portion size of the order was smaller than half the tiny bun it was served on. At approx 25 dollars for each order we realised we could have had better value for money in our meal if we had ordered the kids meals we saw served to the table adjacent to us. The old buffet bar has been removed to add extra seating, but beware if you attend with a party of 2 as seating for you will either be awkward or cramped unless you take a 4 person table. The bar staff were exceptional and the coctails were excellent. Overall if it wasn't for the bar staff this would have been a 1/5 experiance. Do better Windaroo, the FED is just over 2km away now and I'm not sure i want to give you any more chances. You've been our local for 20 years but you've dropped the ball completely. I've attached pictures of the "better" order we received last night, I wish I had snapped a pic of my wifes too.

I am a CELIAC, so i ordered my meal without chips although it came with them covering the bottom of my meat. When I kindly asked for this to be changed to the mash potato i ordered, the plate was taken away, then brought back a side of mash with the same plate. meaning i was unable to eat half of my ribs or the salad with my meal. Staff also tried some of our food and so called “pepper gravy” and left in a coughing fit as it was so poorly prepared and made. Overall an extremely disappointing experience, with half of the staff being rude despite us waiting patiently, and the food be the biggest let down of them all.

The second one I ate half of because I was starving and didn’t have 3 spare hours to wait while the chef tried to remember lesson 1 of culinary school. Photo attached of the second attempt. The staff were really professional, apologetic and offered me a free drink. Unfortunately we won’t be back again which is a shame as it’s the closest family friendly restaurant to our home.

Returned the first one as it was literally a raw piece of flesh. The second one I ate half of because I was starving and didn’t have 3 spare hours to wait while the chef tried to remember lesson 1 of culinary school. Photo attached of the second attempt.
