Delicious food and great coffee. Sadly the one staff member (may have been the manager) was very rude and is the only reason why I’m giving a lower rating. Based on the reviews I had high hopes for this cafe. It’s situated in Macedon, a gorgeous small country town. We arrived for brunch with our small dog so we wanted to sit outside. As it had been wet earlier, the tables needed drying and the friendly waitress who seated us was very accomodating and wiped down the tables and chairs for us before we sat down. She then directed us to order at the counter which was so no problem for us. The problem started here first with the weather. Started to drizzle lightly and so we thought maybe we can get the umbrellas opened up for us to give us a little shade. I walked inside to order and the manager rudely told me to order on the side as I was standing in the wrong area. Didn’t think too much of it at this time as it was a little mistake by me but then came to ask about the umbrellas and he grumpily replied “just sit inside” And I reminded him we had a dog. He then shrugged then accepted my request to open the umbrellas for us but then he added “well they won’t really cover you so…” basically proceeded to belittle me and make me feel like I wasn’t welcome at all. I then ordered and asked “can you make us magics?” I had to ask as some smaller towns don’t know what a magic is and it’s a fair enough question right? He scoffed and answered “of course we do!” “Pfff of course of course” his tone was so passive. According to my mother in law, she was also greeted with the same horrible attitude and service when she asked where the restroom was, a simple question that should be answered with a friendly hospitable attitude. SO disappointed in this interaction as it really dampened the entire experience for us. HOWEVER the positives are: the two wait staff on a busy Monday morning, a young male and female, were exceptional and super friendly. The food was served fresh and everything tasted great including the magic coffees. The cafe itself is warm inside and cozy. If the manager was in a nicer mood, I would have rated this place much higher.

Mr. Cafe in Macedon is the ultimate brunch spot to visit while you’re visiting Macedon Ranges in Victoria We visited this cafe in a nice sunny day in autumn a little while ago and it was really busy, full house with customers waiting patiently outside. We ordered: 🥑 Mediterranian Smash Avo with fennel & chilli pork sausage (additional option) 🇲🇽 Mexican Benedict with Braised Beef 🧇 Belgian Waffle 🥯 BLT bagel 🌟 Golden Glow Smoothie 🍀 Green Machine Smoothie 🍵 Matcha Latte The dishes were all presented beautifully and with lots of vibrant colours. We loved the smashed avo with the added pork sausage. I particularly loved that delicious sausage😍 The Mexican Benny was the most beautiful and most vibrant dish of all the dishes we had! Absolutely stunning. The overall flavours perhaps could use a little more sweetness on the braised beef to balance out the sourness from the pickled cabbage, the salsa verde and the lime. Their BLT bagel was simple yet delish. Perfect for a quick grab to go meal or if you just want something not too heavy. The Belgian waffle was indeed a sweet and delicious ending to our lovely brunch. We love their smoothies too! Stunning presentation, refreshing and had good balance of sweetness and acidity. Attentive and reasonably fast service, given the very busy day they had on our visit. Definitely a must visit cafe if you’re in the area.

We arrived just before closing time, but the staff still let us place an order (note: no table service). Upon arrival, we were promptly greeted and given clear instructions on how to order. The drinks were fantastic-my Snickers smoothie was thick and creamy, not watery like some others, and my partner loved the espresso (he’s a bit of a coffee snob, so that’s a huge compliment). It was cozy inside, and the restrooms were conveniently close. The food arrived quickly, but the flavors could have been bolder. I had the Macedon Breakfast, but the bread was stale and impossible to cut. My partner tried the Mexican Benedict-he enjoyed it, but the pulled beef was bland. For a “Mexican” dish, it lacked any real Mexican flair, missing things like salsa and relying solely on hollandaise sauce. Overall, it felt overpriced for what was offered. We were hoping for a bit more flavor and authenticity given the price.

What a COMPLETE AND UTTER DISSAPOINTMENT. Do not waste your time with this place. Drove all the way specifically to go here (40 minutes) because I loved the look of their meals and wanted to try it out, what a huge mistake that ended up being. There is a sign at the door that says “WAIT TO BE SEATED” … Oh I sure waited, a whole 5-7 minutes before anyone even acknowledge our existence ( mind you about 3 wait staff walked past us during this time ) one was kind enough to say he will be back shortly but someone else came by the time he returned … Finally got seated and ordered two coffees … it took 20 minutes for ONE coffee to come out … my coffee never came…told the staff who said the order was placed correctly but “must have been missed”.. finally got my coffee 35 minutes later and it wasn’t even soy as I had requested … so I spent the whole day being sick J Thanks for that! … 45 minutes later NO SIGN of our meals … so I got up, paid for our coffees, cancelled my food order and left …. The only positive thing I can say is the young male with dark hair who was waiting was very prompt with finding out what had happened to my coffee and was apologetic ( he wasn’t the person who took our order, just the one I asked about it), the girl who cancelled my order was also apologetic …. There is literally not one other positive thing I can say as no one seemed to communicate with each other, most of the other staff were walking around looking lost. Having run a kitchen myself I understand there are delays but this was unfortunately unacceptable. I won’t be back obviously, such a shame this was my first and only experience considering this place has so...
