Bluestone Restaurant Functions — Restaurant in Melbourne

A nice looking venue with poor indoor acoustics, sound hits the bluestone of the front wall (where the venue gets its name from) and reverberates around the entire venue. This would most likely be chaos when the venue is at capacity.

The food here is your standard contemporary italian style pub food. My party found their meals to be good and enjoyable, while I found mine, the chicken burger to be average at best, I made the claim that the lukewarm burgers I got from Carl's Jr earlier in the week were of better quality.

The seat I had was I'm prime position to see everything that was happening at the venue's drink counter. This is where my main issues lie. There was so much poor bar work being used in the venue. Every glass was handled and touched around the rim by the woman behind the bar, who I'm assuming is one of the owners. No tongs in sight for garnishes, especially when placing lemon slices into corona bottles, which ironically, you'd expect a higher level of care following the pandemic. Something has changed with the pizza dough or the dough had been sitting at room temperature till late - it was not the texture it had been on previous experiences we’d had!

I never leave feedback unless I can express my feedback from my own underpinning knowledge and Having grown up in the industry for 35 years the pizza dough did not have the makings of a typical wood fire oven - but rather one from a commercial electric or gas pizza oven!

The makings of an authentic wood oven pizza is in the dough - when the dough is old (late at night) it does not behave the same way dough behaves when it’s fresh or only hours old!

You see this mostly in pizza 🍕 shops along Lyon st where the dough has been sitting in pizza trays for hours!

Today was my first time there and will be my last. I haven't seen such bad customer service for a while. The lady who served us was constantly trying to rush us to order and to take the menus away from us. The chilli prawn linguine has zero chilli in it and was very mediocre. The kids had spaghetti bol, and it looked very unappetising with next to no sauce. The husband ordered a beef burger, which was great, lovely chips too. I think everything was way overpriced for the quantity and quality. On our way out, we stopped for a few seconds to put a coat on the baby, and the lady said, "Can you guys just walk?" while using her hand to wave us off. The boss (I'm assuming he is the owner) defended her appalling attitude and refused to listen to what happened.
