About 10 years ago, during the hot, humid, Italian summers of my youth, I had the privilege of experiencing Chef Bottura's "Memory of a Mortadella Sandwich" in Modena.

Holding near global acclaim as "the perfect ham sandwich*" from Osteria Francescana, the then number 2 restaurant in the entire world.

Unfortunately, the time has come for me to break my silence regarding a secret I once thought I'd never share. A new challenger has entered the ring, and it will not go gently into that good night.

Cuppo's Thick Cut Ham, Tomato and Cheese toasted sandwich is the Jake Paul to Bottura's Mike Tyson. It's scrappy, and it knows why it came here. It's not trying to break records - it's trying to put on a show. Hard times create strong men, and strong men create great sandwiches.

I eat three of these a week, and for good reason - if I were to stop, I suspect the resulting reaction on my body would be akin to the withdrawal a lifetime chainsmoker would experience but folded in on itself 100 times. The singularity within a black hole, except in this case, betwixt two slices of buttery, toasted bread.

Releasing the knowledge that this ambrosia exists might be the most selfless deed I'll ever be capable of. My soul has finally given way, the burden too great, after months of Sunday mornings offered to the sandwich in secrecy.

Possibly the worst server experience I've had at a cafe. Our server could only be described as hostile and aggressive. Tall guy with shoulder length mullet and stretched ears.

We arrived and were seated. Asked for menus and he threw them at us. Ordered coffees, which were slammed down on the table. He shouted at us from across the cafe to take our food orders - a ham toastie and cauliflower toastie. Both were terrible so we left them half finished. We were also never offered water.

Usually, I don't leave negative reviews if an issue can be rectified while I'm there. However, in this case, the server made us so uncomfortable we were concerned he'd only get more upset.

Absolutely adore kicking off my mornings with a visit to Cuppo for a Soy Latte and a Toastie.

The moment you step in, you're met with a welcoming atmosphere. The staff's friendly banter with regulars truly fosters a sense of belonging.

I'm a fan of the cute curated nooks of vintage bric a brac at the rear of the cafe, as well as the mindfully sourced local produce and floral arrangements dotted throughout.
