We had a family of 15 people to come here for lunch because my Mother was visiting from overseas. The place looked promising when we walked up. But when we got there, many of us were outraged at how rude they were because we had a baby with us.
We actually had my 7 month old daughter in a pram because she was soundly sleeping. It was also so that she could be comfortable & eat from her tray with arm room when the time came to feed her.
So what happens? They refused to allow us to have our pram with us, but offered a high chair instead. Their excuse was that it was a safety issue in case there was a fire.
So in order to eat.. we had to take out her bag of toys, her nappy bag, her blankets, her food, her blankets, etc. And pretty much put them all on the disgusting dirty floor.
So their so-called 'safety issue' became a REAL safety issue when all the baby's stuff that was in the pram took up even MORE room on the floor. Mind you, she was also sleeping & placing our little baby in a high chair wasn't going to be the most comfortable for her.
Then, believe it or not when they brought us out the high chair, it had NO TRAY for her to eat on! :P Seriously?!! Then our baby went from happily quietly sleeping & content to furiously crying the entire time because she was tired & extremely uncomfortable.
Each family member started taking turns in having to hold her so that we could try & keep her happy. And it became very uncomfortable when we all wanted to eat at the same time. So because she had been crying..we had to take turns being outside with her so she would not disturb others. And outside was hot & buzzing with very aggressive flies everywhere. enter sarcasm Oh.. the joy.
So the sweet family time with 15 of our family members ended up being one of the worst uncomfortable outings of all time. We did not get to enjoy the food or get together.. all because they denied a pram to be inside. I would have walked up & left.. allowing them to lose the business of 15 customers... but the only reason I did not, was so that my Mother could have a memorable time in Australia.
Eventually this became an annoying outing in a posh place who dislike babies.
This all could have been prevented had they allowed us to bring the pram in.
Overall, my family & I were greatly offended & disappointed in them hiding their posh british ways by telling us it was because of safety-issues.
I will NEVER come here ever again in my lifetime.. and I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone out of principle! Whether you have a baby or not, it should be family-friendly service to all. Their PR skills need to be improved in a big way if they ever wish to have a good reputation.
I hope this place closes down or gets replaced by a more mature & loving owner who value their customer's experiences.
So if I were you reading this.. I would not support this place by coming here. Instead I'd go find a nicer place to spend my money. * AS A TIP * Instead, maybe try the "Olinda Tea House"! It has an EXCELLENT venue with a...
Read moreHave been a customer many years , loved the traditional tea room experience with staff in gorgeous aprons and specialised service which always brought us back .
Our visit today I was disappointed to walk in and be greeted by a staff member wearing a top with PUMA printed in bold letter on the front , not very tea house looking Then to see butter kitchen advertised which also isn’t very tea house
If you want an Indian restaurant then open one , don’t mess with a fabulous tea house venue . One staff on did her job but seemed very unsure of herself unlike the old owners and staff did a fabulous job adding to the atmosphere of old world charm Scones we all had where nice Coffee was ok with 1/4 of the mug filled with froth
Added details after managements response
Don’t know why you think I was there for 61/2 hours you stated in response We did NOT stay longer than 40 minutes so where did you pull 6+ hours from
Secondly I know the previous owners so don’t go bagging them . They ran a wonderful thriving Buisness which you will never be able to compete with
Staff wise is was the only staff serving us that had a PUMA top on Was not a manager and other staff at all Was ONE staff not wearing apron best you check with your staff about that. Was the same staff member that greeted us , served us and payed bill too in a PUMA top .
To add I may have been to your venue in the last 9 months . How do you know I haven’t so your comment about that is ridiculous .
What ever you choose to do with you Buisness yes is your own business . We will not be returning nor recommending your venue Just another business gone to RUIN😡😡 and I’m not the only one in reviews saying the...
Read moreAs soon as we walked in, I could tell that this was not the same place I had visit numerous times before. The soul of Lady Lavender had gone, the walls seemed bare, and though the tables were dressed linen wise the same, the tables were grimy and not set with cutlery, small plates and serviettes to welcome. We even saw a cleared table that had a plate and serviette transferred to another table that had none. I had brought a friend to enjoy lunch out. My friend ordered scones which she enjoyed, but felt the coffee was some that had been brewed for sometime, so lacked freshness. I ordered fish, chips and salad. The fish were 2 thin crumbed slices with no flavour, the chips crispy, but over cooked and the salad that I can give no praIse for. My favourite drink is a Lime spider. Well, I have never had a worse one. It had the lime flavour on the bottom, a clear center, and some icecream on the top. Innocent looking, BUT when I put the straw in I struck ice! First I thought it was icy icecream, but as I attempted to mix the icecream in, more ice! I fished out 6 or so iceblocks, which you can imagine, didn't give me more than a few sips. Upon asking why there was ice in it, I was told they put ice in all their drinks, unless people tell them otherwise. Really? I'm 88 and until that day, have never had ice in spiders. The lady told me if I didn't want ice in it 'next time', I should tell them when I order....there will NOT be a next time. It's sad that they haven't kept the tradition of Lady Lavender alive with good service, clean tables, and staff that are available. What a pity, if they want to make it something else, don't call it...
