Next time you're passing through* Caldermeade and you're absolutely starving, then just remember that if you can hold out just a little longer then cultural epicentres and foodie not spots such as Koo Wee Rup are just a stones throw away. However, if you're like me and haven't eaten all day, and realise that you don't have enough fuel to drive more than a another kilometre or two, then the Caldermeare BP/McDonald's service centre is probably a slightly better option than becoming stranded and dying of starvation on the side of a highway in the middle of nowhere. That is unless it happens to be around 7pm on a Sunday night when what seems like the entire population of South Gippsland descends on Caldermeade for their weekly dose of something dead, smothered in a creamy heart attack enducing sauce and stuffed between two slabs of sugar bread. If you do happen to find yourself in this unlucky situation at the aforementioned unfortunate time then you might want to try your luck at starvation on the side of a highway.
*Due to the fact that the entire town of Caldermeade appears to consist entirely of this service centre and a house off in the distance (which may in fact have been a cowshed) the phrase "passing through" is used colloquially here.
UPDATE: Based on several quick glances from the highway as I passed by at definitely no faster than 100km/h, I can say with a fair degree of certainty that it is in fact a cowshed (or possibly owned by individuals that desperately need to consider loosing some weight... and stop walking...
Read moreWe visited between 2am-3am Monday 9th March. We've never received such positive, courteous and spectacular service from the lady working at the counter/register, compared to many other employees working at that time of the morning! She couldn't apologize enough for the slight delay in their service, however it wasn't even noticeable due to her incredibly hospitable smiley service that we didn't even notice and were busy talking about how great her attitude was unlike other staff from other chains. I'm sorry I missed your name, but there was only her and her male manager working (he was cooking, I believe.) They did a fantastic job, though there was only the two of them and she greeted every customer with a smile and a terrific manner and also wished them all a great night. Never had such amazing customer service, even when she was under the pump with slightly delayed orders, she still had a wonderful sense of gratitude and professionalism! Thank you so much for your wonderful customer service! We hope you make our coffees and hot chocolate again soon! Will tell you again, you make the best hot chocolate (with lactose free milk) I've ever had fr any of the McDonald's chains and fast food competitors! You and your customer service is definitely an asset to the Caldermeade branch! Thank you...
Read moreI had a very disappointing experience at this McDonald’s location. The staff, especially the assistant manager and a younger male staff member (under 18), were extremely rude and dismissive. They made me feel unwelcome and treated me with clear disrespect for no reason.
As someone who visits McDonald’s regularly, I’ve never experienced such poor customer service. The assistant manager in particular showed no professionalism, and instead of resolving an issue politely, they acted in a condescending manner. The younger staff member was equally unhelpful and seemed to lack basic customer service skills.
This kind of behaviour reflects very badly on the whole team. I hope management takes this seriously and provides proper training or accountability. Until then, I won’t be returning...
