Oakleigh South Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Melbourne

One of the best fish and chips places I’ve been in Melbourne. Staff were really friendly as soon as you step through the door.

The chips were perfectly cooked, decent salt, crispy outside with fluffy inside that remain that way even after a few hours. The battered flake was well cooked and delicious, the grilled flake was a tiny bit greasy but it hits the spot.

They also supply a decent amount of tartare sauce tub to purchase (some places have that fold/squeeze tartare which sucks.)

Will NOT go back. I ordered and paid and then after they had coughed and sneezed all over the place. 2 mins after I said I don’t want my food. Can I have a refund. They refused to give it to me as they had already made the food. I said you’ve sneezed and coughed it’s a food safety issue and ohs would not approve. Every time I eat fish and chips I feel terribly sick afterwards and regret it everytime! For the first time ever this did not happen!! I don't know if it's the oil that others have suggested in reviews? The potato cakes are the best I've ever had and the fish was delish!! Can't wait to go again and try a hamburger!!
