Service at this place was so subpar. Iāve dined at multiple other okami locations and have never had an issue with any of them. To begin with we asked the server if we could have a seat in the back away from the door as it was cold and the draft was coming in, he immediately pointed to the table directly in front of the door, we asked again for a table away from the door and he said āno weāre fully booked you canāt sit anywhere elseā despite there being multiple empty tables in the location we requested and us having a reservation, he continued to say no when we asked about a table in the centre before realizing it was empty. We sat for 20mins without menus and without a single person coming to our table. We also watched as he sat 3 separate couples that were behind us in line at the tables he told us we werenāt allowed to sit at. And we watched as every person seated after us were served and not a single worker looked in our direction. My partner went to the front to ask for a menu and the same young Caucasian male that was rude on arrival, was again rude and flicked a menu at him and quickly rushed off. After finally getting someoneās attention, it took a further 10mins for the wrong order to be brought out, then a further 5mins for our correct order to be brought out cold. The young Asian male and female that were bringing dishes out and taking orders were both lovely and diligent. The other young girl seemed to have no clue what she was doing. We watched as she picked up multiple dishes from behind the counter and wondered around clueless as to where they were supposed to go, more training would suffice as she was otherwise lovely. There was also a young family seated next to us that had never been to okami before, the waiter did not even attempt to explain anything to them when they asked how everything worked, he just said āyeah order whatever you wantā. Iāll be driving the extra 20mins to the Narre Warren location...

We booked a table online and upon arrival asked for a table at the quiet end of the restaurant which was half empty at that time as we had two kids (a toddler and a 6 week old baby) and didnāt want the other diners to be disturbed. However we were told that they were not serving that side of the restaurant, whilst there were people sitting mid way of the restaurant. We accepted that and were put in a corner table on the other end, only to feel like we stuffed in. In addition to that it was a hot evening and they turned off the air conditioning, we had to request the staff to turn on the air conditioning multiple times, one said she needed to speak to a manager, the other said I will look into it and the other said ok but didnāt do anything. Finally we lost it as both the babies were so hot and bothered and started screaming and crying that we had to go up to them and tell them to turn the air con on.
If you a running a restaurant the least you can do is make your customers comfortable, we are not dinning for free and expect to be comfortable and enjoy our meals. Not having to beg and plead several times for a simple thing like air conditioning. And when your see a family with young kids try being a little more accommodating, no point having a restaurant open with lots of tables vacant only to be told we are not serving that side of the restaurant despite having customers seated half way. While leaving I asked to speak to a manager only to be told the man who was the least accommodating was the manager for the evening, I said I did not want to talk to him and spoke to another staff member and expressed my concerns, she was polite and apologised for their behaviour.
We have dined here a few times but this time was really bad service. Very disappointed with the way...
