Flavour, flavour, flavour... Vegan chef for a daughter leaves me hard to impress; i was impressed... Stand out experience was the...flavour, but hard to pick, as the presentation, service, selection and atmosphere all made the trip to Melbourne and the hour on public transport well worth it... We've eaten vegan all over Australia, consider ourselves die-hard-foodies, are known by name at several popular eats in Noosa, Sydney, Newcastle and Melbourne, and very critical of 'vegan eats', so our b.s. radar is turned up high at first impressions. One star reviews below now seem very out of context to my experience. If i had to compare I'd suggest 'Earth To Table' (Bondi) meets 'Transformer' (Fitzroy) meets 'Yong Green Food' (Fitzroy), for less than the price of 'Veggie Bar' (Fitzroy). But, there is no comparison; 'Particle (Cinnamon)' are in a class of their own, and I'm happy to say, standing head and shoulders above the rest. Let's hope they migrate with growth. The inner city vegan dining experiences of Melbourne and Sydney, by comparison, need this level of service, attention to detail and flavour. Nachos and chickpea burger in photo. We had 3 different hot drinks and the rainbow sandwich as well. Their barrista an asset they'd not want to lose...

I recently visited Particle Cafe, a vegan cafe that offers a variety of options for plant-based eaters. While I appreciate the effort to cater to vegans, my experience was rather underwhelming. The food itself was quite blunt in flavor, lacking the vibrant taste that I was hoping for. With so many creative possibilities in vegan cuisine, I was disappointed that the dishes didn't live up to their potential. The service was also average at best; the staff didn't seem particularly attentive or enthusiastic, which added to the overall lackluster experience. In terms of ambience, the cafe was just okay. It didn’t have anything special that stood out, making it feel like just another average spot. Considering the prices, I found the place a bit overpriced for what it offers. There is definitely room for improvement in many aspects, from the quality of the food to the service and ambience. Overall, Particle Cafe is an average cafe that didn't leave a lasting impression. I hope they make some changes to enhance the experience for future customers.

I’ve been frequenting here for the last 9 or so years from when I randomly came across it, because I lived around the corner. The owners have changed from being a bit “passionately vegan” for example the previous owners hosted showings of documentaries and were passionately against eggs etc. I would say the new owners are probably more accessible, overall lovely. So some of the older feedback around those sort of comments aren’t relevant anymore. I’m not personally a vegan, but I’ve got a strong appreciation for good plant based food. I’ve brought plenty of others here who aren’t plant-based and they’ve also really enjoyed themselves. The food is honestly amazing- always fresh, fast and delicious. Our personal favourite is the lot board with extra rice paper bacon and the smoothie bowls absolutely SLAP. The cafe has a bit of a hipster dingy vibe to it with mismatched chairs, but it works. An absolute must-try!

Very disappointed with my experience at this cafe after seeing it's raving reviews and nice exterior. Staff weren't very engaging, nor did they ask me how my experience was, hence why I'm posting on the website.

The food overall was ok, not my cup of tea, but that's fine, it suits many others I'm sure, however, when ordering my coffee, I had to ask if I could order a coffee after my food order, rather than being offered or asked. I proceeded to ask for their Ethiopian single origin, which they had advertised, (I was quite excited for this), the staff nodded and took the order. The staff then proceeded to hand me my coffee about 10-15 minutes after the order, after our food arrived which I thought was strange.

However, the issue arised when the staff placed the coffee in front of me (young man with dark hair) and told me it was a Columbian coffee, I questioned why it's not the Ethiopian he replied with 'it just changed', I replied with 'I wouldn't have ordered it then', and he obviously mis heard me because he asked if that was 'ok', I replied 'no, I wouldn't have ordered it', however, he began walking away, rather than listening to me and I was left quite angry and with a beverage I did not want. It spoiled my breakfast and experience with the staff lacking service experience. As, I was at no point checked back on, or asked how my meal or experience was. This would have been avoided had the question been asked 'how was everything', as I would have been happy with a replacement coffee of their house blend, and even asked for extra yoghurt for my museli. They missed out on an opportunity to upsell and enhance my experience, while also correcting my order.

I hope they take this feedback to help improve the service and marketing...

I have eaten at this cafe a few times, giving the food a few chances, but unfortunately the food didn't sit right in my stomach and I always broke out in bad acne/rashes afterwards. I am not sure whether it is due using more of the non refined sugar ( the smoothie bowl made me shake afterwards due to the high non refined sugar content?) or oils to make the food palatable or the man made chemicals such as genetically modified soy lecithin ( man made) , preservatives, additives, used to substitute for the meat and cheese ? I didn't notice 100% pure organic stevia as a non refined sugar substitute but maple syrup which is rather high in sucrose, as a sweetener for the coffee? Maple syrup and even agave nectar ( which is high in fructose, leads to fat deposition in the liver) are just other names for sugar whether it be refined or non refined. The milk didn't seem right to me at all as I make my own plant based milk from scratch and I noticed a huge difference in the taste and quality probably due to the additives used to thicken the milk, such as the artificial soy lecithin? I also hope that any food not used or wastage here is donated to Food Bank, OzHarvest and...
