We ate here with my friends, at about 6:30pm on easter sunday. (04-03-2023) I am pregnant and I feel so stressed eating here because of the old lady at the front. I was asking for a chili oil but i don't know how they call it. I said "can i ask for your chili paste? The one that contains a lemongrass." But the old lady with fair skin doesn't understand. She's giving me rude answers and facial expression that made me feel uncomfortable. But i wanna get that chili oil because before, even if we not ask for it, they will give it as a side for our food and pho soup. The old lady said "I don't understand" I keep explaining what it looks like and she is the rudest staff ever. She threw away what she was holding to express her disappointment. Fortunately, there was a young lady at the front who asked what do I want. When i explained it to her, she quickly understand and say "chili oil?" Yes i said. If they call it chili oil, then fine. But please be patient because you are in Australia and this is a diverse environment! They gave us only small one and we're four people eating. We asked for another one and they asked us to pay $2 for that little chili oil which at another viet resto, they will just give it for free. But my greatest disappointment was for the old lady that was very rude. She was working there for a long time. Hopefully someone will talk to her to be patient. The time we came and sat, she was talking to us and my friends doesn't understand her and asked many times to say it again. I explained to them if you want cold water or tea. They told me they don't understand her but they were very patient. Remember, She is the one working in a customer service place. It's 3am now and I grabbed my phone to leave a review. I'm not gonna...
Read moreWas so excited when i duscovered a Vietnamese restaurant in our burb. I bought takeaway beef & tendon pho + spring rolls.
Worst Pho I've eaten. Got it home only to discover sliced RAW beef + a large slab of RAW beef neatly plastic wrapped; 1/2 of a sliver of lemon, about 2 tablespoons of hoisin sauce with chilli sauce in it - despite me saying twice 'no chilli'. Was only given a couple tablespoons of the spring roll dipping too. Obviously they were saving $$ on resources by not cooking the meat or tendon which was rock hard & inedible, saving on supplying a decent amount of lemon and sauces.
I'm renovating, so don't have a kitchen. If I'd known about the raw meat, I wouldn't have bought it......the actual broth was watery with little flavour; the spring rolls had little filling & did not taste home-made. I threw most of the meal away.
I rang the restaurant & asked why the meat wasn't cooked. Only to be told this is how Pho is always served takeaway....which is not my experience at other restaurants in Melbourne, Adelaide & Vietnam. They expressed little genuine concern with my feedback barely offering the perfunctory apology .......until I queried the legality of serving raw meat as takeaway, only then did he offer to replace the order next time I'm in.
I will not be returning to that place and highly recommend you...
Read moreA Flavorful Journey at Pho Oak Park – Authentic Pho at Its Best!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Pho Oak Park and it was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish. As a pho lover, I’ve had my fair share of bowls, but this place really stood out!
The pho broth was rich and aromatic, with layers of flavor that clearly came from hours of careful preparation. It was savory, but with just the right amount of lightness – no overwhelming saltiness. The beef was tender and cooked perfectly, and the noodles had the ideal balance of chewiness without being too soft.
The accompaniments – fresh herbs, bean sprouts, and lime – were all perfectly crisp and fresh, which made for a really nice balance with the warm broth. I also tried their honey chicken, and they were crisp on the outside with a refreshing and flavorful filling.
Service was attentive and friendly. The staff made me feel right at home, offering recommendations and ensuring I had everything I needed. The atmosphere was cozy, with a good mix of casual and inviting – perfect for enjoying a comforting bowl of pho.
Overall, I highly recommend Pho Oak Park to anyone craving authentic pho. I’ll definitely be coming back to explore more...
