After an ordinary meal last night, I was excited to reinvigorate my palate and embark on a lunch of magnificence so you can imagine my dismay when my better half said we were short on time and needed to get something locally. This meant we only had one option....... SLICES. I've been to Slices before and have no real memory of what the food is like which means lunch won’t be bad, but it probably won’t be good either. I packed said wife into the Volvo and headed 3km up the road to where their menu allegedly showcases contemporary Italian-Australian style cuisine, bringing you a high-quality unique range of flavours. We were taken to our table by a pleasant young lady who sat us down and requested our order without showing us a menu. Expectations were low and I shot my possibly soon to be ex wife the same look a toddler gives their parents when the ice-cream falls out of its cone. We ordered the seafood grill which consists of Atlantic salmon, king tiger prawns, calamari, honey bugs, chips, mixed salad. High risk moves but it was a day for throwing caution to the wind it seems. Here is where things took an unusual turn……. It was BLOODY DELICIOUS!!!!!!! If I was to knit pick the salmon and bugs were a touch overcooked and the salmon was served skin side down (don’t ever do this). Everything else however, right down to the salad, was great and at $42 it felt like a bit of a bargain. The staff are as attentive and hospitable as tubby kids are to smarties (I should know) which is fantastic, and the overall look of the restaurant is appealing from floor to ceiling. Apologies Slices, I may have misjudged you. Well done today and I will look forward to next time eagerly.
Side note: soft drinks served in glass bottles should be an industry standard. Top...
Read moreI came here tonight for my dinner with family for my birthday. Knowing that the restaurant hasn't been open long, I wasn't expecting much. However, I was blown away by the exceptional quality of food and customer service. Obviously, (as with any new business), there were a few teething problems. However, this did not bother me at all in the end. Due to the long wait time, we were offered complimentary garlic pizza - first instance of proper customer service. Secondly, staff were very attentive and well mannered. Particularly, Jack and Sonia. You both were charismatic and made our dining experience. Jack, your knowledge of food was also exceptional. We made the time to speak to the manager (Dario) and tell him our positive feedback. He displayed a high level of friendliness and professionalism. He was a pleasure to speak to, and we could see that he was a fantastic manager. It was also great to see the owners there, so we could pass on this feedback. Food and beverages were phenomenal. I cannot place fault in any off the food. Well cooked, well presented, great taste. Credit to the chefs. We will definitely be back!! I hope everyone gives this place...
Read moreI took my family to this new restaurant in Doreen and was very impressed! Firstly the décor and furnishings are just amazing and you feel like you are entering a 5 star restaurant at Southbank!!! We were greeted at the door by a lovely waiter whom seated us up on the second floor. The views were absolutely beautiful and very tranquil so look out onto the water. I was again blown away with the décor and surrounds of this amazing restaurant. We were promptly served by a lovely male waiter who was very patient and explained the menu thoroughly. But best of all was the food!!! OMG we had ordered a variety of dishes (we had a large table of 8) but the meatballs were fantastic and I personally had the Sir Daniel pizza which honestly is the best I have ever had!! All of my family thoroughly enjoyed their meals and my little granddaughter was well looked after and entertained by the wonderful wait staff we had looking after us. I highly recommend this family restaurant, and we definitely will be back again. Thanks Slices Doreen, well done on bringing back excellent old fashioned service and quality, affordable family eating...
