THE Kitchen RD Takeaway — Restaurant in Melbourne

Stopped in by chance, just prior to closing. Had a most enjoyable experience: the food was suprisingly good (choice of made-to-order or pre-made burgers, etc) given it is a takeaway lunch shop - and the coffee was excellent too. I had a burger with the lot and my partner had an egg and bacon toasted sandwich. Both were freshly prepared and delicious.

The owner, Sam, was very pleasant, genuine and insightful. As someone who works in hospitality, I find the genuity of staff to often be lacking. However - and this could partly be because it was quiet - he encouraged us to have freshly cooked food (more work for him) and actually meant it.

Without doubt, these guys do the best Egg, Bacon and Cheese sandwich in Melbourne. I say sandwich specifically because they do a lot of other things really well too, but this is a standout. The difference? They keep their items as fresh as possible. Their egg is still goey, and they are seriously the only place on the planet that butters the outside of the sandwich preventing it from drying out.

It's definitely worth the drive there if you work in the area.
