We headed to the Chocolaterie for some ice cream given it was such nice weather. I was keen on some sweet treats from the cafe but the line was colossal so we stuck to the ice cream only. Unfortunately it was completely melted within literally one minute of me taking possession of the cup. I genuinely wonder about the freezer temperature as I have never experienced anything like it and it was completely unenjoyable with it dripping absolutely all over me. Very generous scoops which is great but when itās practically inedible itās not much use
Most recent We visited just before lockdown (thank goodness as I can only assume the sample bowls which are the absolute highlight are now very much a thing of the past) and discovered they have gotten rid of the perfectly tart lemon tart! DEVASTATING. Thereās still plenty to appreciate however, the grounds are stunning and you can buy your ice cream and wander around the gardens or sit on the lawn and enjoy the picturesque countryside #bringbackthetart
Latest We had an interstate visitor so took her for her first taste of the joy that is the chocolaterie. First up Iāll say I don't recommend going anywhere near Christmas time unless you want sticky fingered children running around you.
Regardless itās always packed with people and rightly so, particularly when they have their famous hot chocolate festival or ice cream festival running. A Wonka wonderland
Recent The serving sizes are ginormous, I always over order and out come gigantic indulgent sundaes, the decadent brownie which is my absolute favourite brownie I've had in life thus far and scones (possibly the biggest scone I've ever seen, don't order scones for two unless you are starving)
Further update Interstate visitor in tow we hit up the chocolaterie for some sweet treats. Iāve never ordered a dessert I wasnāt thoroughly impressed with so it was the lemon tart with a shot of warm chocolate eaten sitting out on the verandah soaking up the atmosphere whilst savouring every bite of the sugary dessert temptations.
Update One of my favourite things to do on a Sunday is take a trip out to the Yarra Valley for lunch and finish on a sweet note at the chocolaterie. It's a delightful experience from the moment you walk in with samples of delicious chocolate buttons in large bowls (what a line).
Original review There's so many fantastic premium things for sale in the showroom it's my first port of call for all my gifting needs and if you are lucky you can peer into the open kitchen and see the chocolatiers at work. You can also book in for classes at times.
You will always leave with your stomach heaving regretting your greedy need to sample so much but looking back on it salivating the next day. Definitely recommend going to the Easter egg hunt if you have kids I happened to be there last year on Easter weekend and they children were absolutely thrilled. No adult participation...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm juggling between giving this place 3 1/2 to just under 4 stars. Seems like a good place to go in the Yarra Valley region if you're all wineried out and or have kids in tow. When we visited it was school holidays, and it was great to see the hands-on activity and being involved in some chocolate making. There is also a viewing area which one can watch the busy team chocolatiers create and pack handmade sweets. There is also a cafe in the rear (we were full from brunch prior so did not experience the cafe) of the large shed like building which is dotted with many varieties of chocolates of all flavors, concoctions and counties of cocoa production. There are plenty of prepacked chocolates as well as the fancier kind which one would pick and choose to fill a gift box. However, this place could be so much more, in terms of atmosphere and layout, it was underwhelming as it has so much potential to be set in a full blown Willy Wonka-esque world. The chocolates i purchased (approximately $80 worth) were not as good as I was expecting, definitely below the quality of Haighs or Koko black....I dont know if I was expecting too much? We visited Cocoa Rouge Chocolaterie in Red Hill and those chocolates were outstanding! So I was quite disappointed when I tried the rocky road and it was just one dimension of sweet, mostly marshmallow and hardly any jellies, the peanuts seemed a bit stale and lackluster hard chocolate compared to others I have tried where the combination of ingredients were perfect, a zing and tang from fresh raspberry jellies, smaller fluffier morsels of homemade marshmallow, deep roasted and salted nuts coated with rich chocolate that melted like velvet, unfortunately it was not so for our purchases on this visit, the ice creams were also not that appealing for an insufferable artisanal gelato snob like myself, but great for kids anyway. It is touristy, and good to go at least once, I would take out of towners here if we were in the area, but I would not trek halfway across Melbourne just to come here specifically unfortunately. But to their credit the Milk chocolate Pastilles and milk choc Turkish...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting the Chocolate Cafe in Yarra Valley, and I must say, it was an absolute delight for all my senses. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with the heavenly aroma of freshly made chocolates and the warm, inviting atmosphere.
The cafe itself is beautifully decorated, with cozy seating areas and large windows that offer stunning views of the surrounding Yarra Valley. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about their craft, which added to the overall experience.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show - the chocolates! The selection at the Chocolate Cafe is truly impressive. From classic flavors like dark chocolate and milk chocolate to more adventurous combinations there is something to satisfy every chocolate lover's cravings.
I couldn't resist trying a few different flavors, and each one was a masterpiece in itself. The chocolates were beautifully crafted, with a perfect balance of sweetness and richness. The textures varied from smooth and velvety to crunchy and nutty, making every bite a delightful surprise.
In addition to the chocolates, the cafe also offers a range of other treats, including decadent hot chocolate, creamy gelato, and freshly brewed coffee, Lunch, and breakfast as well. I highly recommend trying their signature hot chocolate - it's like a warm hug in a cup.
The Chocolate Cafe also offers workshops and tastings, where you can learn more about the art of chocolate-making and even try your hand at creating your own sweet creations. It's a fantastic opportunity to deepen your appreciation for chocolate and have some fun in the process.
Overall, my experience at the Chocolate Cafe in Yarra Valley was nothing short of exceptional. The combination of delicious chocolates, friendly service, and picturesque surroundings made it a truly memorable visit. Whether you're a chocolate connoisseur or simply have a sweet tooth, this cafe is a must-visit destination. Trust me, you won't be...
