My local go to place for baked goods. Generally what they make is of good quality, some items better than others.
Positives: The freshly made rolls, generally don’t disappoint. The custard Berliner is the best I’ve had from anywhere, a lemony icing sugar, a fresh vanilla custard, a light and fluffy dough and cooked in a way that isn’t fatty like a lot of other Berliners and doughnuts around. The nut twist is nice. Apple strudel is pretty good too. The assortment of Tortes are good, I especially like the chocolate ganache. Sausage rolls and Kranskies are generally good. They make a good selection of breads and rolls at reasonable prices that far exceed the quality of a supermarket loaf. The cheese and onion loaf is especially good if you’re in the mood for something like that.
Negatives: There are some downsides too, the pies are pretty average. The vanilla slice has an odd flavour to it (otherwise it would be good), the Beesting cake is not a real Beesting cake. The chocolate icing on the doughnuts taste horribly artificial. There are also some days (maybe 1 in 6) where the baked items looks a bit “sad” and my usual go tos are also a bit of a let down.

Lobethal Bakery is hands down one of the best bakeries I’ve visited! From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed by the warm, inviting aroma of freshly baked goods. The selection is fantastic – whether you’re craving savory pies, pastries, or sweet treats, they have it all.
The pies are especially delicious, with flaky, buttery pastry and rich, flavorful fillings. Their selection of cakes, tarts, and slices is equally impressive, with everything tasting as good as it looks. The quality of the ingredients shines through in every bite.
The staff are always friendly and efficient, even during busy times, which makes the whole experience even more enjoyable. The cozy, relaxed atmosphere adds to the charm, making it a great spot for a quick bite or a leisurely coffee break.
Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Lobethal Bakery is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates good food and excellent service....
Read moreSo I've been a local of mt Barker in the past before this place was known as Millie's not Lobethal bakery and my mother and I went to the Lobethal bakery today and the coffee and hot chocolate we had was great. So was the pie but the one thing I had to point out was that the younger staff 2 young girls 1 with blonde hair rolled her eyes as soon as I walked into the bakery at me directly. Then I already felt uncomfortable so I approached the girl at the counter and she was great and was very nice. Then as my mother and I had coffee and hot chocolate she had a pie it was great, but then as we're about to head out a different younger girl comes out all grumpy looking and then gives me a death stare I could see from the peripheral of my eye as she was stacking the outside chairs. Not sure what happened that day but that wasn't very good on the younger staffing part their service needs to be...
