Yet another disappointing meal in this cultural blackhole that is Yamba. We're to begin.....if you don't have it, it shouldn't be on the menu. Non of the desserts on the menu were available at a lunch service.....none. I ordered ham and pea rissoto with fried kale and parmesan cheese, the last 2 ingredients were missing from the plate and while it was al dente it had no real sauce and taste how it sounds....bland. My partner ordered the seafood chowder, it was so salty it was inedible. My partner ate the seafood but left the liquid. I also believe that she got sick from it as the muscles looked like they were not fresh and had probably died long before the cook. I don't think the "chef" knows what hes doing very well and I'd be interested to see how the ingredients are looked after. The salt and pepper shakers were also empty which I got from another table.

I had $20 burger (no side of chips?). The bun was light, soft, and delicious. The salad was fresh. Then disappointment struck, the patty was low in meat content, and it was hugely over seasoned. My partner had a prawn bun at $22. She did enjoy it and reported its deliciousness. However, 6 prawns, salad and a bun $22 seriously. One of my children had an overpriced egg and bacon roll. The other had what appeared to be reasonably priced tacos.
In summary, average and overpriced.
They currently have a monopoly, being the only cafe on the Angourie tourist trail. Any willing entrepreneur can buy the shop next door for $1.500000 and obviously make...
Read moreWhat a rip off! $75 for eggs Benedict served on 2 baguette rounds, a bacon and egg roll the size of my palm served on a stale wrap that was inedible, a warm milkshake and watery, flavourless juice. We changed ham for bacon on the Benedict and were charged $5 and for a slice of orange plastic wrapped cheese to add to the wrap, $4. The service was perfunctory with very little care of concern for the experience of the patron. Overall, a dreadful experience. We went there based on reviews for the Angourie Cafe, it's previous business name. The current owners seem to be riding their predecessor's coat tails though have a long way to go in presenting good food and value for money. An incredible waste or money. Obviously absolutely no intention...
