I've always liked this pub. It used to be my local 10yr ago and I drank here daily. The food has changed over the years from Chinese through Mexican to basic bistro. I would've given 5 star axcept for the food on this visit. Ordered 4 things. Thai Beef Salad, Chicken Parma, Pepperoni Pizza and Spaghetti Bolognaise. The Thai beef salad was good 👍🏼. The Chicken Parma was OK 🫳🏼. The pizza was not good. The thin crust was OK but that's where it stopped. The Spaghetti Bolognaise was slop. I think my dogs would've turned their nose up at it. It looked grey and the pasta way over cooked. Having said that, the service is good and friendly, the pub clean as always and great atmosphere for a family sit down. Only thing was my young son said the chef had the personality of a cane toad. And I had to agree. Pubs good guys. Just the food needs to be more consistent.

Ended up here after phone calls and driving around and to find this actually open was wonderful..... I do see that it is tough for businesses in Lismore at the moment, and was hoping to spend some money here as things are still very tough after 2022 floods, but still a lot is closed....... 😔 Anyway, awesome food once it came, (about 1/2 hr wait, so not tooo bad) must be busy with 1/2 of Lismore shut down friendly staff nice place for a cool beverage and a great pub feed, would definitely recommend it........

Was there for a bday dinner. The access to the bar and dinning area was excellent, the food was also excellent, good size serves at reasonable prices ....the beer was cold, and a great variety of beer to choose from, however no light beer on tap had to purchase bottles if your driving and want to drink .

Great staff. Over priced. The food is crap, McDonalds is much much better! Compare the food to the local take away (Fat Fredies), and you would never eat at the Hill Top again! When did an Itanian dish (Chicken Parma) become a "Pub Classic"? Bring back the mixed grill and proper Australian burgers! And the customers will return! In fact, the layout of this business, does not cater for customer needs. Bands are sent away, because there is no room for them, (Super Cheese), who would bring in hundreds of customers! The TAB is very small, and smokers, should be allowed to eat in the smoking area, 'it is their choice'! If there were no pocker machines, this business (Pub) would go bankrupt. Most of the time, there are more staff than customers. The owners must be, 'negative gearing' this business, because it would never make a profit! Especially the way it is operated now! If this business want's to survive, they need to provide a courtesy (12 seater) bus, that would pick up and drop off, customers who live inside a 5km radius, providing them, the support they need, to spend their money,...

Saw a kitchen worker moping the ceiling with plates of food underneath where she was moping overhead!! Totally ruined my son's birthday & my parents trip from down the coast. Was told over the phone when I rang to check that there WAS a pool table & a band that my son could access as that's all he wanted for his birthday.

But when we got there, there wasn't a pool table & wasn't a live band!

They then burnt his entre & ruined his dinner. Steak was so overcooked U could knock someone out with it. Totally inedible. That's not even mentioning the lowering of the standards of food in the bistro. There were other customers taking their food back also. Left my 12yr old son in tears with no birthday dinner. Rang & spoke to the manager Mick who has an attitude issue & all he could come up with was a passive aggressive "Sorry". After almost a decade of going to the hilly.. won't be going back. Don't waste your time or money or risk your health. The hilly has gone...
