One of the three 'classic' Outback NSW pubs on/near the Grawin opal fields.
These are local watering holes that are now tourist attractions. 🍻 Of the three, this was the place with the most relaxed vibe and least trying to rip you off on drinks! Score.
And there's a reason for the good prices that dates back to why this pub was founded. Apparently after a flood in the '70s, the Glengarry raised it's prices as an emergency measure, but never lowered them again. Angry locals started a 'club', where grog was bought with tickets to dodge the legalities of selling alcohol. Years later, it's legit, but still a club, you'll be asked to sign up for a temporary membership upon entering, but there isn't a fee.

Read moreI visited Grawin about 45 years ago. The turnoff was an old fridge with Grawin painted on it. We had friends at the time who had chanced on this remote outpost. There was a variety of people , some of them happy to be unfindable lol. Our friends were well set up in a large new caravan that they weren't paying off if you get my drift. Just watching OzOff Road's visit to Grawin and it brought back great memories. It was nowhere as developed as it is now but one thing remains the same , the congeniality of the residents. Read moreThis pub/golf club/camping area is an awesome part of outback NSW and not to be missed! There are showers available for purchase and flush toilets available if you are camping. The pub staff are great and the drinks are cold. If you are going for a golf bring the old clubs.
