đ There is not many places in the middle of the Central Coast to stop for lunch. When I saw a model I follow get cute pics here I was o0o0o0o on the list!! Met my friend here as she was driving to the Goldy and I was working in the Cenny Coast for the day.
Matts Diner looks new, they donât have a proper website only a Facebook so couldnât find much info. Parking out the front, seemed quite popular from the outside but once we stepped inside the fun was over.
đĽ Donât get me wrong the design, classic diner vibes, cute as!! Old school jukebox, cute booths to sit in, very instagrammable.
đđźââď¸ The service was actually unbelievable, I have never felt as unwelcome as I have in there in my life. We got looked up and down as we walked in, asked to sit in a booth and was denied and then when the booth was available asked to move and was told no. My friend had dietary requirements but we werenât allowed to alter anything to cater for it. Just felt like they didnât want us there, not just from one person, the whole staff.
đĽ¤I got a coke with my meal for $4.50 including chips - great value! They also have milkshakes, ice cream sodas and hot drinks.
đ´ I opted for a Classic Diner Burger $8.50 beef Pattie, onion, tomato, beetroot, bbq sauce - I asked to add cheese and was made to feel like a nuance. I expected it to be very old school tasting and it was. Slightly stale bun, thick Pattie and the cheese was slapped on without a melt.
⨠I normally wouldnât post such a bad experience, we both decided not to post the pics on our socials but just wanted to share that people shouldnât waste their time. Please be kind to your customers, we were so excited to be there...
Read moreHow good is this little place? Hidden away, no over bloated social media presence, no line up at the door, no bookings required, no pretense. Now look, I'm going to have to be honest - the burgers are good but don't expect some burger Holy Grail here. The food is above the usual fare you'd expect at your local take away, but not leaps and bounds. Ok, that's out of the way. What's good? Service! Appearance! Broad menu listing! Did I mention appearance? These folks have gone all out on paraphernalia, and they did it well! The booths are comfy, the walls are covered in interesting items, food served in burger baskets etc. Whilst not strictly 50's & 60's, an original Chiko roll poster encouraged my teens to give one a go. I was the final beneficiary - they eat too well :)
Give this place a visit. Invest in a local, give them the backing to improve their food and take some risks.
Oh - milkshakes are go! Ain't often you can find a malted chocolate shake anymore, so...
Read moreMy partner brought me to this diner for my birthday back in May of this year. The decor is fantastic, 1950s nostalgia central! The reason Iâm giving 2 stars is the wait for the food was 45 minutes to an hour. We were warned it was going to be a wait, but in the meantime you gotta take care of your customers. If theyâre prepared to wait AND pay, then a little complimentary snack to sort of tie us over wouldâve been appreciated. I noticed the staff were quite young and although I think itâs great the youngins are working and learning, you canât be making people wait that long for breakfast food and milkshakes - even those took ages to make our way. I enjoyed the roadhouse pancakes, however my partnerâs big breakfast, wasnât great. It had that âeverything is frozen and just heat it upâ taste. I still urge you to give this place a shot, perhaps the long wait was just a one off..? My partner did say the burgers were good when he order a...
