What a horrible experience today, Monday 24/4/2023, @ around 3pm. We arrived after a long drive, to find all bins left and right of the entrance overflowing and rubbish strewn around all over the forecourt. Inside, the floor was also dirty and a lone cleaner was trying to brush the inside floor with an outside broom, spraying dust all over the place. The men‘s toilet had this long metal urinalysis which was blocked and also overflowing and the floor was dirty everywhere, with paper on the floor in the cubicles everywhere. Tried to order at one of the approx. 16 self order kiosks, of which half had a hand written paper stuck on “out of order”, so we ordered at an other one, only to get an error message after attempting to pay by credit card saying something about paper print error. Proceeded to another kiosk, this time saying “pay at counter” but again, same paper print error, so we went to order at the counter. As there was no Vodafone mobile reception, I went onto the McDonalds WIFI and noticed it debuted me 2 times as the aborted attempt on the kiosk did actually go through. Luckily, the manager refunded the double payment with no fuss at all. And also acknowledged the other problems I pointed out “as being taken care of now”. Just an ordinary Monday, and such a mess. So dirty. So I hygienic.
The cheese burger by the way was OK, except for the sauce already being squeezing out on the side...
Read moreIt's a typical highway side McDonald's where you don't go out of choice but out of necessity to grab a quick bite.
It's not quite clean as you'd expect from a McDonald's standard, pics attached can show that. The outer seatin area is quite untidy, the trash bins are small in size , the lads empty them regularly but the amount of footfall that this outlet sees fills them up quickly
There is ample parking but signage is terrible hence people clog up the main driveway with the impression that this is the only available parking. They could do with improving signage of where more parking lots are and planting some trees and marking them properly, the car is a furnace by the time you come after having your food.
The screens that show your number can't take more than 9-12 order display, so you have to rely on the guy shouting out your number , why can't they simply get larger screens ?
The self service kiosks are around 6 in number but when it's crowded it's tough to locate them, simple signage should help.
The restrooms are clean, thats a positive.
They can do with more staff on public holidays and school holidays time but then that would impact margins isn't it,same sad story of every franchisee outlet of any...
Read moreIn past years I'd have rated this franchise as a 4 star champ, but for the last two or so years it seems to be slipping in terms of cleanliness and general repair. So, 3 stars in December '22. Even then, it's a brilliant location for a stop on the Sydney-Canberra route. And your alternatives are . . . what, exactly?
The food is usually presented at the higher end of McDonalds' experiences. If you like what the company serves - and I do, within reason - then Sutton Forest will usually be a winner.
Service varies. I suspect that the DIY ordering system is making life harder for the smaller numbers of staff. I also suspect this is why cleanliness seems to be slipping. In fairness, though, these guys are pros when it comes to handling busloads of punters, so you'll almost never be jammed up waiting for a meal.
Missy The Cat Star Ratings:
5 - a place of rare genius that merits repeated return visits
