Old Bar Tavern — Restaurant in New South Wales

Got a delicious BBQ Chicken pizza and not even halfway through found some dirty offcut of lemon. When I went back to the kitchen about this they said "Oh, it's just an offcut of lemon". I'm left thinking how is it okay to have food that shouldn't be on the plate there? How do I know that the plate was cleaned properly? How do I know that the preparation stations are kept clean during meal prep and meal making? I was sharing food with someone who has citrus intolerances. The staff didn't offer to refund or replace the food. I went back to my partner who agreed that that was not a decent result and went over to talk to them. I went over after and they tried to put it on me for not demanding a refund or them to remake the food. I feel it would have been very rude of me to demand anything. It's on the restaurant staff for not just offering either of those options. I think that that was the worst service I have ever had here. I did receive a $20 voucher to spend at the Bistro. The pizza was $26 and I won't be coming back to use the voucher. Very saddened as previously this place has had great food and great service. Food already took an hour up to an hour and a half to come out for some people i was sat with after being told it would only be 45mins. Even then it came in dribs and drabs with the first meal coming out after 30ish mins (grazing platter) and the last coming out after an hour and a half (chicken boscaiola). Loved this place. My wife and I are holidaying in Tuncurry and were looking for some place to do some sightseeing and have lunch. We discovered The Tav' on the internet. We checked the menu and were pleased to see that they offered a few old favourites as lunch specials. So, we decided to make this our lunch stop. From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel welcome. The barman greeted us and told us he was pleased we decided to visit. We ordered a couple of drinks from their very large variety of beers and wines and ordered our lunch. We both decided to have the bangers and mash ($16 each). When the meals arrived, we nearly fell over! There were 3 good-sized sausages on a large mound of mashed potato, all covered in beautiful onion gravy and peas. We couldn't finish the meals and were offered a takeaway container by the lovely kitchen receptionist for what was left. It was enough for our dinner that night. I highly recommend The Tav' for a meal and/or drink. There's even a courtesy bus if you're staying in Old Bar. Thank you so much to the bar and kitchen staff for such a memorable...

My bf and I had dinner at The Tav, My partner had the rump steak chips & salad with the creamy garlic sauce , the rump was cooked to perfection ( middle rare ) the chips were tasty and the salad was really nice but the sauce was omg good, it was a busy Saturday night but it didn’t take long for your meal to arrive which was great and it was hot and delicious! Definitely recommend the Tav for dinner and we’ll back for sure. 👍🏽 My bf and I are back at The Tav for dinner coz the food was delicious before, this time we had the lamb cutlets mashed potato veges and mint sauce the chef didn’t let us down , it was delicious and the mint sauce was made the meal , I had the nachos with extra sour cream and it was really delicious I licked the bowl clean , great taste , lots of it , I couldn’t eat it fast enough!
