Old Salt Distillery — Restaurant in New South Wales

From the moment we began working with Terry & Michelle at Old Salt to cater our wedding, we were honestly blown away and knew we were in the perfect hands to make our menu/dining/drinking experience for the big day exactly what we’d dreamed of. Not only are they both the most down to earth, honest, genuine and loveliest people - they are absolute GUNS at their craft. They went well above and beyond to make sure we were 110% satisfied with our menu, including, but not limited to, customising our canapés and mains to our liking, accommodating all dieteries including quite a complicated request as the mother of the groom has extremely niche dietary requirements due to a serious health condition, answering all of our questions along the way about our menu, guiding our decision making (we have limited expertise in that area), and even upgrading one of our protein options to a much better quality cut out of total honesty about a favourable supply cost change (that we would never have known about ourselves). They also served their own limoncello spritz at our canapé hour which was a huge hit. Our guests could not stop raving about those, as well as the incredible food throughout the day/night (which there was an abundance of!!). Oh and don’t even get us started on their passionfruit cheesecake - the best we’ve ever eaten in our lives and an absolute must have. A catchup with friends, at the start of the holidays. Staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. Food was AMAZING! We ordered about 80% of what was available on the menu(because we love tasting different flavours) and each dish was amazingly delicious. My standouts were french onion dip, pork belly entree, garlic prawns (I wanted to bathe in the sauce), smoked (or was it charred? ) carrots, lamb/pumpkin, duck fat potatoes and let's not forget the 2 desserts we ordered... passionfruit cheesecake and chocolate mousse (we were so full, but couldn't send any leftovers back). Full of flavour, delicious food. I should point out is not all about the food... It is a distillery after all. We all tried each other's drinks; cocktails and seltzer all really good too, generally not too sweet. Even bought some seltzers home with us. Cannot speak highly enough of Old Salt Distillery! The owners are absolutely lovely-so welcoming and friendly, and incredible at what they do. The venue itself has such a relaxed vibe, almost as if you're having a few drinks at a friends place-but your friends are amazing cooks and have delicious beers on tap! The menu is fantastic. We've had the beef cheek, beef rib, garlic prawns, carrots and french onion dip, and they're all absolutely perfect. Along with the setting, service and food, the beers are great as well. Can highly recommend the Camperdown Cold and the Cherry Sour. Old Salt is exactly what was needed on the South Coast- a friendly, chilled venue run by a lovely and personable couple serving amazing quality food and tasty beers.
