Sensational! There’s so much to like about this pub. First, the colour red! It drew me right in. Seating options are snug indoor dining or try the massive outside verandah with spectacular views. The bar staff welcome you (rather than some places where they glare and go back to their phones) and there’s a nice country pub vibe, even though you’re not far from Newcastle. But it was the meals that were a lovely surprise for a town that has little more than a pub, a petrol station, a community hall and a caravan park. So good, in fact, I saw the chef to congratulate her. The team not only catered for a 70th birthday celebration in the back room, they pumped out the best lamb cutlets and pork belly with crackling, and with fair pricing and good serves. Ps the chef tells me she’s been in situ only a week. Well done. everyone at The Tourist Hotel.

On the last leg of our trip we booked into the dog friendly caravan park across the road. New years eve mind you, thought we would have a meal at the pub. On arrival were told no dogs allowed anywhere on the premises. Never have I come across a pub where you cannot have a dog outside in the beer garden . Take away prices for alcohol were up there aswell. Wouldn't waste my time stopping here again

What a great stopover this is. Free camping out the back. The pub was spotlessly clean, the drinks were cold, and the food was, well, hard to find the correct words, but beyond fantastic would be close. We both had seafood meals, which were cooked perfectly. The chips were crispy. Nothing was greasy or oily. The salad was fresh. We will definitely go out of our way to come back here.

Interesting in this day an age a dog owner is considered an outcast while smokers are welcomed and celebrated. From what I could see, the entire outdoor area including the front verandah by the main entrance is all a designated smoking area. Hardly a “tourist” Hotel that welcomes all travellers. Before you all jump on me for being “One of those people that have to take their dog everywhere” I’m a female solo traveler, so my dog is both company and security. Disappointed I was told I could only eat at one table in the whole establishment. This table was almost located in the driveway where the smell of trough lollies was overwhelming not to mention the cigarette smoke. Sadly I walked away with an empty stomach after a long day...

This is a great country pub offering everything you would expect in way of good food and drinks at moderate prices. Plenty of parking, children's outdoor play area, large undercover balcony with plenty of seating and a gorgeous back room function area overlooking paddocks and mountains. We love visiting this pub. The atmosphere is so laid back and welcoming, you could easily stay longer...
