Our celebrant used their PA System for the ceremony as he wasn't bringing his own. The microphone went flat about half a sentence into the ceremony. Most of our guests couldn't hear anything that was said, this is extremely disappointing as we only had a small group that meant a lot to us and it's a shame that they weren't able to hear our words, commitment and marriage to each other. It really isn't good enough that the venue couldn't do a basic thing like supply a charged microphone. This has reflected really badly on our celebrant as everyone thinks it was his microphone. The "wedding coordinator" from our point of view was absolutely useless. When we went for a viewing with our wedding planner, she was more interested in talking about her own wedding than giving information about the venue. She had to do the invoice about 6 times because she kept getting the pricing wrong, putting the wrong details or leaving things off. At 9pm the night before our wedding, Valhalla's wedding coordinator contacted our planner and told her that we needed to wrap our wedding up at 9pm and be out of the venue by 9.30. 2 hours early! She forgot to mention that the Council had apparently changed their laws. Another example of her not being able to do her job very well. Considering she had just had a meeting with our planner on the Sunday, you'd think this should have been mentioned. No real compensation was offered, only wine and 2 cocktails, and a bit more antipasto. If the venue doesn't want to have weddings on week days, they shouldn't offer it or agree to it. We feel like the timing restrictions are a lie and they just didn't want to be there. The main beer that we wanted and that was included in the drinks package we chose, wasn't available when we got there. They told us they don't stock it anymore. The staff wouldn't discuss the option of replacing it with another beer and made us and our guests wait while they went to the bottle shop to buy some. While working this out, they made my husband and everyone else feel like a complete inconvenience. Clearly, they need to review their packages and make sure they actually know what they have included. This was appalling, it's not like their packages were cheap. The staff were so rude. They were miserable and the main man working the bar was telling our guests that they were pushy and rude and that their partners will never marry them because of their attitude. All this lady did was ask for a drink outside of the package hours...It was 5 minutes early. This man was the main one that was being rude, he was snapping at people and being really blunt and just plain rude. A few people commented on how Indigo looked miserable the entire time she was walking around. Food was supposed to be continually served over 3 hours. At times people were standing around waiting for pizza to be served. While waiting for pizza, the only food available was the garlic bread, which was then taken away and nothing to replace it, so there was nothing to eat. The antipasto is crazy overpriced, wanting $700 for 47 people is ridiculous! They did eventually agree to half the price but this is a crazy amount. The entire time we were made to feel like a complete inconvenience. Again, they shouldn't offer weddings on weekdays if they don't want to have it. It's a real shame about all of the above issues. The venue is absolutely gorgeous and they have such a beautiful space but the people running it, really have the potential to ruin it. We will never be going back there, and there are quite a few people from our guests that...
Read moreWell where to start on this day Sunday 18th of February 2024 a very hot and humid day (which was exasapted by the lack of fans of air conditioning in the place) myself and my daughter were invited by close personal friends to a family 40th Birthday party, for the son of my dear friend, who happens to love Vikings, firstly contacting this business is near impossible, with the phone continually ringing out, you find that when you arrive there is no cell service, ok can deal with that, no biggy , but setting your own table and clearing it as well as bringing out your own food was lifting what was to become a farce to Mt Everest levels , we literally had no staff attendance on our table of 20 , not once, in fact sighting staff was a bit like the hunt for the Tasmanian Tiger, those including one poor German lass who was clearly out of sorts who's visa runs out in two months (run girl run) was clearly the best of what could best be described as F Troop, rudeness , accompanied with ignorance of duties , no smiles , no friendly service , what am I saying, no service at all even at the bar, the coup de grae however was the manager of this place, my daughter had heat stroke and was fading fast , so after asking a heavily sweating and belligerent chef for him to call us a taxi so we could leave this function asap, to get to the poly clinic, I was told to use my own phone ( no service) , I then asked the nice German lass to please call a taxi , this again was a bridge to far, no result, didn't offer to call in landline, I could see through their office alley way, my daughter leaving the table and unsteady on he feet ( no alcohol had been consumed by her on the day) , I asked a member of staff could I go to her, he instructed me to go around the side of the office ( gruffly) and use said door, of course it was locked I think this fellow was on work experience, didn't know or simply worse didn't care , I came back at that and seeing my daughter struggling quickly passed through their office , I needed to get to my daughter asap, now the Rolls Royce of this absolute joke of a place , was the head person ,Julian who berated me for doing so "are you right mate" Turing his back and slamming shut both sealing the little office space , no offer to help, no intest in customer well being , never experienced anything in my 42 years in the industry, in the end our friend had to leave her sons party to get us and my daughter to medical treatment, elsewise I really don't know what would have happened, this entire episode was like a really bad Benny Hill show. Places that conduct business with the general public have certain obligations to adhere to , these are legally binding , they failed in this abysmally. I will be contacting the appropriate body to report this , it's ok to be all the things I mentioned above but you must look after your customers health and safety whilst on your premisis. It may just happen on hot humid Sunday afternoons , but somehow I doubt it, just drive by the place it's a good looking exterior just be aware what awaits you within , the senior person needs to be trained in inter personal skills and basic customer service , amazing this place is still...
Read moreValhalla Restaurant and Bar is such a beautiful place for a wedding, a hidden gem we were so lucky to have found from the magical drive way to the pine forest and the rustic and intimate feel you get from the first moment you walk through the door.
The staff are beautiful and welcoming we were so lucky to have Indigo as our wedding coordinator up until the day she is amazing and very professional at what she does, she replies fast, has a friendly and bubbly personality and is easy to talk to and very knowledgeable. Her love for the place made us fall even more in love with it. She Helped us in every way she could and answered all our questions no matter how silly they were. We started with a wedding coordinator and ended up with a friendship.
Indigo showed us around and let us come and see the place as many times as we wanted to get a feel of how we were going to set it up and gave us suggestions too all while planning her own wedding which was the day before ours. She still made us a priority even on the week of the wedding she was still in contact and checking in on us.
Kirra was our Coordinator on the day and she was absolutely fantastic, she made sure everything was running smoothly, checked in on us multiple times, took us to all the wedding photo locations, became an honorary bridesmaid helping me with my train and doing up my bustle to get it out of the mud, had the bug spray for us all, just truly there for you to make sure you have the most amazing day and we did. We thank you both for everything.
Big props to Julian for bringing the place to life with all your handy work and for giving us advice on the day while setting up. You have truly made this place something special.
Our wedding was a magical real-life fairy-tale even though it ended up raining the wet weather option was just as beautiful. All of the colours on the vines and on the trees really brought it to life and made our ceremony. It’s a very relaxing and chilled space which everyone loved, it wasn’t so up tight like a normal wedding, the atmosphere and the staff are great. Not to mention all you can eat wood-fired pizza (which was amazing) and endless garlic bread how could you not love this place and for a fair price. We had the most amazing day; Valhalla will always hold a special place in our hearts, we will definitely be back.
The numerous spots to have photos on the property makes for an amazing range for your wedding photos, every area makes it seem like you are in a completely different place and you don’t even have to leave Valhalla to do it. This helped a lot with keeping time on the day and not having to transport the bridal party and us around to different locations. They also have some cheeky Scottish highland cows which also make for some cute photos.
Valhalla really does have something for everybody whether it be for a sit down or a cocktail wedding with beautiful scenery and amazing staff that go above and beyond. This place is truly where the coast meets the country and an amazing venue to make your wedding day something really special.
Love...
