Bakery that has value added the bread products it produces fresh onsite by using them as part of a cafe as well. Excellent hot and cold meals available for fair prices. They serve tea, coffee, milkshakes and other corner store style take away food as well as typical bakery products. The burgers are very good, however the pies are worth going out of your way for because they are the best quality pies for miles and like all their products are fairly priced. Their curry pies are extremely popular and are among the first types to sell out each day. This place is well patronised especially by workers who take advantage of their early opening hours, so it tends to have quite a bustle going during the peak trading times. And why wouldn't it? They serve some of the best food in the district, not just Wallerawang. I sometimes wish it was open at dinner time, but I accept that the staff start very early and need to sleep! Bread purchased from here tastes like bread should with a pleasing texture and keeps well for a number of days after purchase. Be warned though, this is real bread. If you mistreat it, it will go stale, and it will not last forever -...
Read moreAfter seeing 2 Aussie, you tube guy, who supports and plugs Lithgow Businesses, I ventured to Wallerawang Bakery in search of the elusive [at Wollami], Pink Lamington that he rated 5 stars. One cannot go all that way without refueling the big engine, so I got a Hamburger with the Lot [$12], add chips [$4] and a cold Coke $3.5 Hamburger was great, not a fan of the lettuce mix, prefer iceberg like my heart 🩵, but it was packed with Tomato, Beetroot, Bacon, Egg, Cheese and Bev Matthews favourite, Yummy Pineapple 😘😘 Chips n Chicken Salt excellent and up there with the best. Coke lovely and cold. Just like 2Aussie, the star of the day was the Pink Lamington [4.5] Fresh Cream and Raspberry Jam in the middle, compliments it perfectly. Simply outstanding and after all the best positive feedback I could muster, hopefully will have Pugsley making an extra couple of trays for Wollami. The Asian Princess couldn't resist extracting another 4.5 out of my wallet for a take out. Guess her diet restarts tomorrow. 😉 Update - now have at Wollami...
Read moreIf I had a microwave with me the pie would have gone in it. Nothing worse than a cold pie, and being a potato bacon cheese pie (not sure where the cheese was and the bacon was just flakes sprinkled on top) the gravy section was tasteless and the potato flowery. (I say gravy section because there didn't appear to be meat in it either). Having said that, we also bought a steak and kidney pie and it was fine, so maybe that came out of the oven at a different time and the pie warmer cupboard isn't working properly. If you are eating in, inside, you get a plate, if you are eating in, on the verandah, you get a paper bag - fine for a pie, doubt I'd have been impressed if I'd ordered a burger and chips. Credit card surcharge is not advertised but does apply, fortunately I did think to ask in time to pay cash instead. The cakes looked good, one person in our party had a vanilla slice and said it...
