We enjoyed our stay here, it was a lovely peaceful location set amongst a vineyard with lots of wildlife. We stayed in a single room. The room was comfortable and appropriately appointed. There was a bit mould in the shower and there were a few signs of wear and tear but nothing which made it unpleasant to stay in. The common area for the single rooms was a nice space with a fireplace, high ceilings, wooden beams and a kitchen with a full size fridge, oven and a BBQ outside. The oven door didn't close properly and there was a down light dislodged from the ceiling but again these were minor issues which did not inconvenience us. It is excellently located to do a winery tour or a balloon ride and would recommend both. Cessnock is about 15 minutes drive and has everything you might need. We ate at the restaurant and had a squid salad as a a starter then the tasting plate paired with degustation wines, followed by a creme brulee for desert. The food was excellent with the exception of desert which was not edible for me. The wine pairings for the four dishes on the tasting plate were ok, the stand out was the lamb with the Shiraz. They tried to pair their own Rose with the gnocci but it was an abysmal failure. We didn't have breakfast but it was extremely popular on the weekend we were there.

I think it is really important to share your experience, but one person's experience does not validate someone else's. My experience at Wandin Estate was a memorable one. A mother daughter weekend started with a cellar door and the best Pink Moscato in the Hunter. The morning started with a beautiful breakfast on the balcony overlooking the Wandin Gardens and a great hot chocolate! Recommendations from Matt sending us in the perfect direction to start our day. The estate was close enough to be close to the action but 10 minutes away to have the peace and quiet of Oliver's Cottage and some local Kangaroos. High ceilings and a comfy bed made resting easy and the shared common room was a treat. We were left alone but a shared number at reception was beneficial in case we needed anything. Walking out to the vineyards of a morning did not get old. We did not want to leave! In the Hunter to celebrate what would have been a milestone birthday for my late mum. The Hunter and Wandin Estate was everything and more then we thought and wanted it to be. Thank you to Matt and the team for the memories.

We had a truly exceptional experience with Wandin Valley Estate as the venue for our wedding four weeks ago. It has taken a while to soak in how great our day was and to appreciate the level of hospitality and service we received. Mel, the wedding coordinator, went above and beyond with all aspects of our day, she brought a personal commitment to making the day great which shone through on the day allowing us to enjoy every moment without any worry. There were so many small touches that made our celebration just right - that would not have been possible without Mel's dedication. The venue itself is stunning with many options for staging the ceremony, reception and any other additional events. The accommodation on site provided functional, yet beautiful areas for our friends and family to stay and enjoy each other's company. We visited the estate quite a few times in the lead up to our wedding and were always resolved in our choice, by the quality of the food, wine and service. We could not recommend celebrating any occasion enough at Wandin Estate.

I had high hopes for this location when I booked it for our wedding. Unfortunately it was a case of lots of promises that were under delivered. Take note that they will say yes to everything during booking time, then do whatever they want on the day. I understand there are events the following day but this day was for us and 100% of the attention should have been placed there. From when I arrived, I was told there's another event the following day, how big it was, how much needs to be done, etc. Lots of details were missed for my day. The wedding coordinator Mel was not paying attention to anything I had requested, was no where to be found and would look at me blankly when I questioned anything. She also blamed her team for things that went wrong which is poor management!! I feel sorry for her team members. There were requests on the runsheet that I meticulously wrote. That runsheet was NO where to be seen. I did see an entire folder for the event for the next day (160 people, starting at 10am).

Mel really needs to learn a thing or two about customer service. Yelling at a guest is unacceptable, under any circumstance. In addition, a gift that a guest had given to place in the bar fridge went missing. He asked for the gift back midway through the dinner and was refused. We couldn't find it after that. I do not recommend this place under the current management. Brides, you have been warned.

Edited: no surprise that management is hiding and denying everything. Not even an apology has been received but fake reviews added to override my real review. The place is a joke! Do not book under the current management unless you want to be disappointed. Another note, the tasting is held in the main restaurant... the wedding location has a different chef who is not as good. You don't get a choice of which dish to taste, essentially, the tasting is pointless. We have dined at the restaurant which is amazing. It's such a shame that the standard has...

My wife and I were married at Wandin in May of 2024. There are so many words we could use to describe the experience but the one that keeps coming back to us is exceptional. We worked with Mel to plan a fairly rushed wedding (4 months before the date). Mel was instrumental to what our friends are calling "the best wedding they have ever been to", she helped us through the planning and was there on the day making sure everything ran as well as it possibly could've. The reception venue at the cricketers pavilion was a stunning location, the grounds at Wandin were exactly what we were imagining when planning the day. We were able to decorate the venue to our hearts content to really personalise our reception.

We had some rain on the day and the ceremony was quickly moved from outside to the barn, this was probably a better move for us anyway as the space is beautiful and intimate and easily fit our 80 guests.

The food and wine was beautiful and it was very special to us to drink the wine that was grown on the vines just outside the reception venue. We went for a canape option with a grazing board and our guests were very satisfied with the quality and quantity of the food.

We had 2 villas and 1 loft booked for our stay there and our guests loved the villas. They were spacious and private enough that everyone felt comfortable. The loft we stayed in was cosy and romantic.

We cannot thank Mel and the team at Wandin enough for helping us pull the day together and make it such a special experience for us. We will definitely be back out there for our anniversary in a year and probably will make a few drop ins to enjoy the food and wine in...

I have the privilege of living near Wandin for the past year and being a regular. I have seen these recent reviews go up and it’s sad that people can could jeopardise a business or cause distress to staff. The reviews pertaining to a recent break in and the service. I was at Wandin Valley the following day and was witness to devastated, distressed staff that something so horrible had happened. I am also the owner of a local accomodation establishment and was woken just after 2am by Wandin staff begging and pleading for any spare rooms may have for guests. Unfortunately I was completely booked out as was THE REST OF THE HUNTER VALLEY that evening. I am one of 5 local owners that received this call early hours that morning. The following day whilst I spoke to staff about what happened they explained they tried everywhere an was unable to secure accommodation, they had offered to make up sofa beds that weren’t being used in other villas, also put clean sheets on a room that wasn’t used, they even had a staff member who lives close by offer up 2 ensuited bedrooms in her brand new 2 week old house. These people refused all those options so by choice stayed in the rooms. What else could they do. They are being crucified by a situation that was out of their control and also failing to mention that 3 other properties got broken in to out at the vineyards the night before so obviously a gang had hit that area. The other properties are large well know accomodation providers. It’s such a shame that people feel the need to leave reviews that in no way reflect what...
